I've re-instaled FS2, installed the launcher and the new media vps. It worked fine untill a point where, I load FS, the music isn't being played and anytime I try to load a mission or the techroom FS crashes saying that it can't find model a specific model... well, I guess this means FS is not accessing the .vp files (any of them...).
Any idea why this might be happening. I've tried with every scp build I try too :(

I have a similar problem... my music works in briefings and whatnot, but never in missions. I have all the latest stuff (launcher, build, vps, etc) too..
-
What builds are you using? Some of the recent builds are DirectSound and some are OpenAL so it would help to know which and the exact build version that your trying.
-
I'm using the latest SCP oficial release (3.6.5. ??)... however I have music in the missions (or I had, untill I couldn't play anymore due to the other bug...), I don't have music in the main hall or briefings
However, my real prob is about the game not loading the models...

Try this build:
Latest (http://icculus.org/~taylor/fso/willrobinson/20050613-win32.rar)
Or you can check out hte recent builds forum (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=97) and find a more recent build that's a bit more stable than 3.6.5 (we're at 3.6.6 right now if im not wrong)
-
So, I'm using the latest build, and I still get music during briefings, etc.. basically anything except in-game. In game it's very quiet, save for the sound effects. :doubt: Perhaps it's something with my music media vp?
-
Are you using OGG music by any chance?

Actually, the file FS can't find is fighter04.pof....
-
Ummm. That's not a standard FS2 fighter. It's not in fighter section of Sparky_fs.vp at least.
EDIT : In fact Fighter04 (in FS1 at least) is the Apollo so it looks like you've got a rogue table file somewhere.
-
Well, the only mod I have installed is the BWO demo, and it is in a separate folder...
I'll check it out later..
-
Do a search for *.tbl. Last time I had a problem I found one in my \data folder that had absolutely no reason to be there (I think I accidentally extracted it there with VPview by mistake one time).
-
Yeah, that did it... I guess I installed something that puts the tbls in the table folders instead of a vp or whatever... it solved both probs :)
