ExoSquad.
One of my favorite shows *ever*. It was a short-lived series that was called off way before it's time. I have been searching everywhere for the episodes, to either purchase or download, and I was never succesful, until the other day when I found this, http://www.smartbombstudios.com/public/Exosquad/
Word of warning, the video quality is sketchey at best, which is a shame beacause the series has some awsome space battles. But, in that very link, you got all 52 episodes. I suggest that everyone who is a fan of good television give it a try.

hey, I remember that show, I remember it kicking ass.
-
Looks pretty neat i'm guessing it was late 80's or early 90's.
-
early 90's IIRC
it's like a cross between macross and GI Joe
-
I have a bit of a predilection against Exosquad...they ripped off the Mad Cat, see. Still, I do have some fond memories of it...

Probably it's time you realize the madcat is ripped from the Glaug (macross)? Any predilection against battletech? :D
-
Madcat isn't, though.
That's the Marauder.
-
Funny, I thought I saw the Ryoken in there...
-
I expected this thread to be about Samurai Jack...
-
I wish they hadn't cancelled invader zim. that show could have been wroked up to be pretty good.

My bad you're right I mixed the two. But the point still stands :D

i love you doug..i've been looking for this for months and months
-
they, just went down, and they were about to free Venus too. shame :(
-
Does anyone remember that live action show with the mechs in it? It had digital graphics for all the mech battles and stuff, but live actors? Was pretty neat, if I remember it right.

I think so, it was the one with the kids, right? All I remember is the pilot episode and it was on a snow planet and had some dinosaur-like creatures.

Looks like that show belongs in the dumpster you found it in, right next to such dreck as Stargate: Infinity and all that Power Ranger crap.

power rangers is live action it's completely different from exo squad as it is a cartoon. i've never seen stargate infinity so i'm not goin to even say anything about it.
-
Watched the first episode... hem, yeah. Great suits, great hair cuts, great animation :D
-
this show was a classic... it actually had a bit of flair and political dogma that even made UPN at one point in time consider late night and or canceling the show because parents thought it was too adult for sunday mornings....
this show is a god damned classic!

I could've sworn there was a power ranger cartoon... they've done so many ****ty shows that at least one of them had to disgrace animation. Stargate Infinity was indoctrinating garbage, though.... they took the Stargate canon and timeline and casually triple-Zatted them to make a show that clearly existed only to suck up money from advertisers who bought ads based on the show's title and didn't watch it.

Here I am trying to cut down on cartoons, and now you give me this and say it's awesome. You bastard. :p

But it's not awesome, so don't worry :p

Yes, but now I feel compelled to check it out, resulting in yet more strain on my bandwidth and hard disk space.
Plus I'm in the middle of exams, so I'm supposed to be working.... :nervous:

Yeah, I'm having a hard time getting past the cheese factor, it seems like a knock off of Centurions.

-
never saw centurions before, but from the description at imdb it was when i was just a mindless peice of meat (infant). if i can find some episodes of it i'll check it out it kinda sounds interesting...
*looks at screenshots of the centurions and then a flood of memories shoot back.*

Take that. Reverse it. Centurions is the newer of the two.
EDIT: All this and I forget to reply to Nico...
I have no grievences against BattleTech, because the creators sought permission to make use of the images of the Glaug along with various Valkyries and Destroids (plus several other mecha from rather obscure animes) for the Marauder, Phoenix Hawk, Stinger, Wasp, Locust, Ostscout, etc.
If anything, I'm mad at Harmony Gold for abruptly (and, I might add, in breach of contract) revoking FASA's license to them.
Exosquad did NOT seek permission, and there was a large stink about it including legal action by FASA.

You seem awfully sure:
Centurions (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centurions) 1986
ExoSquad (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exosquad) 1993

-
they seem totally different to me. there must be somesort of underlying feature that is floating over my head.
-
...that's nuts. Centurions had a newer style of animation, Exosquad was older, grittier-looking.
-
question, how many major multi-epposodic developed charicters died in Centurions? if the answere is less than 20 you loose

Thing is, they asked Harmony Gold, not the original authors, and I'm not convinced HG was entitled to take that decision.
Anyway, give me a Macross anyday over those, coz nostalgia is one thing, but it has to be quality nostalgia :p
That said, over old things like that I take a Vandread anyday, too.

Bugger me. I had (may even still have, all that stuff resides in the loft) a couple of toy robot thingies from that of those I bought on holiday in the states (I'd have been about 11 or 12, I guess)... although i never saw the cartoon.
Wondered for ages what they were from (having obviously chucked the packaging away).
EDIt; and yon centurions thing, now I think of it.... ah, the memories.

What set aside Macross in my eye is the whole 'novelty' of transformable mecha - especially since there was a sensible and deep running plot beside the whole 'p0wnage' of heavy metal mayham.
This is also the reason why I love the original Gundam Trilogy (the movies are tons better than the series) - it had battles with coreography way ahead its time, and characterisation unheard of.
However what I really miss is a realistic 'mecha' show - Gasakari came quite close, but it was too inteligent and clever to be a real hit.
-
The words "realistic" and "mecha" do not belong in the same sentence*....
*(unless there's a "not" in there as well, of course...)

you mean, just like "space combat" and "simulation"?

Exactly.

Yea, I think that's it! :D
Anyway, yea, the people who made Macross either asked or stole (I think asked and got permission) to use some Battletech designs - and the other way around. There's actually some "lost" Battletech mecha that could fly and looked almost exactly like valkries :)

I was wondering, when was battletech created? The original Macross mangas (and macross mecha designs) were released in 1980. If I'm not mistaken, FASA celebrated both their closure and their 20th anniversary in 2001 (so that would bring it back to 1981, which is close, but still later), so it's not really possible that the Macross guys copied the Battletech ones.

watched thelast few epps, for a show that was basicly made for the sole purpose of makeing kids buy toys it sure had a lot of people die. and it was a realy nice retelling of world war 2, I especaly liked how in the latter eppisodes they start showing the other side as somewhat heroic as well, despite the whole genocide thing. Phaton's little story about being happy was a nice touch IMO. and that blond girl (can't remember any of the title charicter's names, sue me) ended up totaly fuctover screwed.
-
Really, I would have watched it... if there wasn't half a dozen episodes in rm format ~~
-
You know the Battletech cartoon itself was pretty good. The plot lines were aimed squarely at teenagers and had a bit more about them than your standard kiddie tripe. The battles were also done in CGI, albeit very early CGI. They still looked great though. Worth looking out for.
-
BattleTech cartoon? Someone mention Battletech cartoon?
http://www.battletechmodproductions.com/dloads_var.shtml
Thirteen episodes; so far as I know, all of them.
-
Whoa, great find! Well, I can read them directly from my CD, but for those who don't have it I recommand the MW2: the Clans soundtrack (the others are shotty remix).
-
This is pretty cool! I used to get the toys for xmas.
Anyone know where I could find M.A.S.K. cartoons?

I picked up a DVD in a local shop here, I'm sure amazon or some other seller must have copies.
