I have almost completed work on the Kushan Firelance Frigate (just need to do engine glows and fix the textures).
I have a few shots posted here (//"http://www.angelfire.com/ab6/iverach/firelance.html")

That looks great. I've always liked the ships and thier interactions in HW. My only beef with the game is I think they downplayed fighters too much.

I'm too lazy to do all my campaign work (hint, hint, nudge, nudge), and nothing much is going on at the RT MOD, so I'm free.

The top pic is a render, like it says...

As I've never played HW, I'm really looking forward this mod so I can discover that universe (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
But I've heard many times fighters were useless in HW. I expect some big balance change I suppose? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Definitely, fighters/bombers are going to make a huge difference in ship battles now, I'm not sure about this one, but I don't think corvettes are going to be player flyable. They will still be dangerous to fighters, but they wont eat them like in HW. The missile destroyer wont be able to take out wings of fighters in 2 seconds, but it will still offer enough deterrent to make you think twice before hitting it, or a ship its gaurding. The ramming friagates and mimmics are going to be the hardest ships to do. We may just end up making the mimmic a stealth ship (but still kamakaze) instead of trying to figure a way to make it cloak, change shape etc... The ramming frigate will have to be scripted into every mission :/

Once we finish the ships and weapons we could use someone who can do some fairly advanced mission scripting...

Fighters in Homeworld ineffective? Support vessels with fighters docked as carriers can bring slaughterfests to most enemy formations if reinforced with a few corvettes.
For a Homeworld to FS conversion, I would have corvettes as player craft, just make the main guns turrets. (and have a key SEXPTed to lock down and unlock the turrets, the guns themselves fire at your current hostile target)

I agree with Ace. Give them some normal gunz and have the AI run the turrets as normal.

Hmm, a fighter(more like a bomber) with 4 turrets and 2 primaries..Hmm I guess that wouldnt be too bad, wed have to modify it a bit so it wouldnt kill every fighter in range (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)

You're right of course. If you make the MG corvettes to godawful powerful then that's all people will use...
Of course, there's the fact that the things were pretty pathetic against capships so even if they were mean as all hell they're not always the right weapon for the job.

Ya'know, the way the FS engine handles turrets I'm not so sure it's such a hot idea to have the attack bomber lightly armored... not if it's actually going to go after capships.
That reminds me, are you going to have the sideslip capability enabled in this conversion?

You must be thinking of HW: Cataclysm, the sequel.
The fighters are well-nigh useless.
However, in HW, the fighters are the most important class you have (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

yup. The default controls are numpad '1', '3', '+', and '-' (I think).

You've never seen scouts set on normal tactics, parked in front of your MS dancing around because there is an enemy ship within range? They dance like crazy..
Corvettes ok, I'll do it this way..
Corvettes can slide very slowly and fighters can slide slightly faster...

It might be, were working mainly on the ships in Cataclysm. Once we finish those we may do the origional Homeworld ships...

It will have Kushan, Taidan, Somtaaw, Beast and Turanic Raider ships...
