Title: TAG Questions

I've noticed alot of these floating around so I took the liberty of making a thread specifically for TAG questions.  Submit at your leisure.

I might as well start off.  Why won't my TAG C's call in SSM strikes?  And yes, I test them in custom missions.

I think SCP has this already implemented.  If you're talking about retail, though, it'd be because SSMs were dumped (IIRC as too unbalanced; it was an infinite supply of munitions).

Ok, talking about TAGs: Why can't warships fire their beams more accurately at TAGged ships? I once had an idea to make a mission where the player has to TAG the enemy warships(which are outside 4,000 kilometres) so that friendly warships could have an extended range. It did not work.

Hmm I thought you had to add them in by hand and it was a seperate enrty (I never saw a TagC thing)....


  They wroked in both retail and later I made screens for SB.com when they were talking about SSM's after I had ported them to FSOPEN last year...

  Maybe you should go back and recheck your tables in case something is off...

If the beams didn't fire its because the weapon range in the table is too low.  Even if a ship is tagged and you tell the turrets to fire on tagged ships, they have to be within the weapon range of the turret else they will not fire.

Try jacking up the range or you might be able to get it to work with the beam-fire sexp.

BTW, the SCP comment was aimed at aldo.;)

@GRG:  Yeah, check the retail table.  They have the Tag C written in but it's not player allowed.

Tag only makes weapons fire more accurate in nebulas, IIRC.

TAGs are for firing beam cannons in nebulae and long range beam cannon assaults. (aka pinpoint shots)
