Title: Bob's Deimos
Post by: Black Wolf on June 21, 2005, 10:25:39 pm
I was doing an assault mission on a deimos and wondering why my wingmen were firing blindly at it (hey were supposed to be taking out subsystems and turrets), and it turns out the paths are all screwy. So, did someone fix its paths and I have an old version? Or were it's paths always misaligned and nobody noticed?

I'm actually in the process of fixing them up in case anyone hasn't fixed it.

Um... I was the one who realigned the subsystem paths.  I took it upon myself to do this when I noticed Bob's repositioning of the flankside turrets.  I also repositioned the main subsystems, as they were out of position.  Perhaps you're using the same copy I downloded prior to my changes.  Did you grab it out of the hi-poly media VP?

I thought the Deimos was the only fully complete high-poly model. The Sobek and the Fenris have missing textures, the Perseus, the Myrmidon and the Anuket do not look much different than the older versions.....

At least the difference between the old and newer Deimos is apparent. It's really an achievement.

TopAce, have you actually looked at a new and old perseus side-by-side?  Just because it doesn't look radically different is not indication that it's not radically better.

As for the missing textures, that's due to your install.  The maps aren't stock but every proper distro out there for those ships includes the new maps.

...

I judge a model as how I see it in-game, not how the old and new version looks like in a comparison.

So why would looking different make it better?  I personally can find nothing inherently wrong with original :v: designs.

They look as different ingame as they do in modelview - moreso with the shinemaps...
