This is a real render this time, not a PSP fake.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) What do you think?

Oops, needs a summary, ok:

The Carthage and Dashor watch over the Collosus' Resupply. And yes, the glow is a little weaker on that one side of the Elysium, It's attempting to move into a different position.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Nice! a lot better than your last ones  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
A little work on the engine glows and general colour but other than that it's good  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Very nice.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

The only thing I'd suggest is it looks a little cluttered... try to not just place ships randomly, but have more of a purpose for each one. That's my opinion anyway, but what do I know...  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Thank you.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) The Engines were post production. I have yet to figure out lights.

Well, I didn't think they were random, But I don't like things being completely Uniform. I thought it looked like they were heading towards the Collosus.  Thanks for the comment tho.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

TS Sux for Raytracing. That was actually raytraced on 3x. And thank you for no comments.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Damn good.

Seriously, people always put suns in their renders, then have crummy shading.  If the sun is in the FOV, it makes sense that most of what you'll be seeing will be in shadow.

yeah, but if you don't put a sun, something is missing, and if there's only shadows, you see only... nothing... so You've to find a balance

If you want a version with shadows, I can show you that too... lol. But the Orion for some odd reason, thought it was self-illuminated...

Not necessarily.  I find renders without a sun to be just a good as those with.

Good job, Sni- Rah Tor'h...  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/rolleyes.gif)
However, I feel like being picky.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

There is no depth perspective that I can see. Look at the Orion or the container in the clutches of that Triton on the left. The geometric shape should grow smaller as it gets further away from the camers; instead, that Orion looks like it has a huge rear.

I second all the shadow remarks - you'd be amazed at how much a picture can be improved by having true shadows and light sources. It's simply a matter of the natural appearance that our eyes expect to see.

Last thing: Good job at breaking out of the dreaded 2D ship arrangement. However, the pic is a bit cluttered. I would take out one of the planets, since having two bodies of that size next to each other like that just doesn't make sense. Also, move the Sobek somewhere more visible - I had to hunt for it.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) And the main thing: depth blur. The pic as it is now make it very hard to tell the scale of things. If you added an increasing blur to an object the further it got from the camera, it would help immensely.

Ahh, but in space, there's no distance blur, as there's no atmosphere.  To get it really accurate, your shadows should be totally black and almost unnaturally sharp.
