So, anyone here need a game to work on?
Do you have the time to commit to a project that will debut at IGC?
Do you like to work for % of a game that may never sell enough to pay a % but WILL be finished?
Do you want to work with folks who have already managed to pull off a game, and have 2 more products about to be released?
I need someone with Torque Game Engine experience (script of C++ or both), or demonstrable programming/modding experience beyond making levels who can learn FAST. Someone who wants to contribute to an original game design set in original IP and who has the time to commit to a long term project. If you don't know what a case statement is, this job is not for you. If you are going away for a month, this job is not for you.
It is a must that this person be able to devote time to preparing our IGC demo (think of it as a tech demo more than anything) October 7-9, 2005.
What is it? A space themed game set in the Dark Horizons Universe.

We have some basic space code and waypointing code, but we're missing a whole lotta gameplay. Wanna help? We have a small team, but we need at least one more dedicated to this. It will help greatly if you have played ALOT of space games.

If I had the time or skill, Inqi, I'd be all over that.
-
does your game have pixel haters or what were they
-
I know what a case statement is, but I lack the OpenGL skills and the like.
Best of luck though, seems like a really fun coding project.

I don't have much time to work on the SCP anymore or else i'd be all over this.

Ack, Firefox crashed and lost my first post.
Yes, I would definitely be interested. I was considering asking whether you had any (minor) jobs available on your mysterious-current-project, actually. This sounds a little more involved than what I was thinking, but it would be nice to get my name attached to an 'official' project - maybe I'd even be able to contribute to some design aspects. ;) And hey, it might even be a paying job. ;)
Time is also the biggest problem for me. I'm pretty free right now; however, in August I'll be going away for a couple weeks, and in September, school starts. I was planning on buying a laptop anyway. I could definitely remain in contact during those two weeks, and do high-level design work during that time. As far as actual coding/testing goes, it's in the air. September onwards I'd have more of a part-time availability. I don't think October 7-9 would be any problem since 2/3 of the days are weekends.
I've looked at the Torque manual sample on Garagegames, it looks pretty straightforward - Tribes 2 has been my only major Torque experience. I played Lore a bit, but VERY early in its lifetime - I wasn't that good, and there were only a few players on, who were very good. ;)
I'll take a look at the DH universe later today (so that Firefox doesn't crash during this post), all I remember is something about Russia and nukes. :p
Anyway, I'd like to do more thinking/discussion on it, but I'm definitely interested.

Email me, but yes, I am looking for some time committment here, if you can't commit, I can't use you (no matter how much I like you personally). Too much to do, too little time to finish it in :)
-
I'd love to help, been looking for a chance to play with the torque engine without forking over the $100, but with my freshman year of college looming, I wouldn't have much time to commit after the end of the summer. :blah:
-
I'd like to help, but I really can't commit the time needed for 3D modelling/textuing etc, so unless you're wanting music done, I wouldn't feel like I was putting in the effort it deserved :(
-
I would have been tempted, but I go back to uni in septembre, and then I'd be available only during weekends, so no luck there I suppose.

Is this project going to be ported to TSE as soon as it is available?
-
When TSE is x-platform, probably.
