Yes. I prefer the spelling of Alpha Centuari this way. :nervous:
Yes. it is in 3d. Hence Vasuda appearing so large compared to the others.
Yes, as usual, clicking this obscenely large image will open an even larger image.
If your modem dies, tis not my fault. *notes disclaimer in title*

Give everyone the file jackass.
:p
-
Comments like that make Raa sad. When Raa is sad, he doesn't like to give anything away.
-
haha, good
-
When Raa doesn't give anything away, BlackDove is angry. When BlackDove is angry, he starts to YELL. When BlackDove yells, he only does it when it's worth it.
Everyone needs to have this in 3d. Just imagine the campaign possibilities, streamlined as if taken from canon.
Also, you can't ****ing spell :p
-
*plugs his ears with his fingers*
Yelling makes Raa sad.
-
Well why don't you just go CRY IN THE CORNER THEN?
Vasudans today.....beh. All panzies.
-
When Raa is sad, aside from not sharing, he grabs smart allek pilots, throws them to the floor and steps on them, with his big Vasudan hoof.
-
Chill BD. Raa put a decent amount of work into this so it's only fair that he uses it in whatever way he pleases.

-
BD just wants to do something like this with it...
Now I have no excuse for not knowing what systems are linked to which...
-
Very, very nice. :)
The only complaint I have is that the 2D perspective of the 3D map, as seen in the cbanis, looks exactly like the familiar canon :v: map. If you manage to rearrange the systems so that they're in the same positions :v: had them, it would be perfect.
-
I shant be doing that.
Too much work. (The dots are easy enough to move, but lining up the tubes between them... meh!)
-
Can't you link the tubes to the spheres somehow?
They should really be rearranged anyway. :v:'s map had an approximately even distribution of systems, but your map kind of crowds together the systems between Deneb and Ross 128.
-
No they can't be linked. And I don't care.
-
You could just manually put polygons in. That's what I do when I need to link objects like that :p
-
how bout a POF of the nodemap? That'd be damn cool.
-
Been there, done that (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,337.0.html). ;) Yours looks better, though. :p

EDIT: Man, I was a n00b then.
-
Uh, Raa... I can't find Gamma Draconis on your map anywhere. Did ye forget?

You're a 3dsmax guy, right?
You suck :p
Delete all those stupid tubes, draw splines instead, and turn "renderable" on. Set thickness, etc, then you just have two independant vertex to move to deplace/rescale/whatever the lines (edit spline -> edit vertex).
Pfff, what would you do if I weren't there? :P
-
Looks awesome. Tell Styxx.
And now it just needs a bit of glow.
-
^_^
-
Nico: But does that let you specify, individually, the color of each end of the spline and of the connecting line? Besides, it's all done now.
No, Ghost, there is no Gamma Drac. I didn't need it for what I made the map for, and though it'd be maybe 3 minutes tops to put it in, I see no need to at the moment.

Of course. It's just a matter of making the right material.
And the "besides it's all done now" is not valid. Try it, you'll see, it'll take only a couple minutes to set up all the lines again, and it'll be much more efficient and accurate.
With I don't remember which modifier, you can even add your little spheres at the end w/o having to actually modelize anything, and so w/o screwing the stack and losing the spline vertices.
-
Or you could just use the align tool.
-
Hmm.
I always do do things the complicated way...

Doesn't allow you to adjust scale as you see fit, or rotate easily, or animate or... and it never works right. Well, to be bland, that tool is crap.

seems okay for, uh, aligning stuff :nervous:
-
To a surface. wouldn't work with Raa's stuff anyway.
-
Don't we already have half a dozen of these?
Not that it doesn't look sharp.
-
No. Not public.
Nico; tried your method, no better. I'd still have to make the little nodes at the end of each line, and the lines themselves are annoying to work with.
I may look further into it at another time, but my map is good enough for me, and I don't care how much Goober nitpicks. I'm keeping it.
-
You don't have to work with the lines, just the vertices, and there's a modifier that adds meshes on vertices. Ah well, I don't care.

He said "doodoo"...

*throws do do at the moldy hero*

We aren't going to turn this one into another penis frenzy, are we?
-
nope, we're gonna stay on topic with this one.
Penis. Penis penis penis.
-
*heh* Venom's right. If I were setting one of these up in Lightwave, I'd just draw the splines, set them to render and use pointclone to put a mesh on every vertex. It would take about five minutes to set up, then about five hours to tweak the render settings (because, lets face it, I suck at rendering).
-
*ahum* File for release?
-
Why should I even bother?
-
Exactly.
*snatches Raa*

I don't know where you live.
But I can dedicate my life to finding out.

Because some people think it doesn't suck, and if people ***** about the positions, you can tell them to go do it themselves :p
-
It isn't perfect with regards to :v: but I never would have noticed had people not pointed it out (still don't really see much of a difference anyway).
If I had a rendering program and wanted cbanis, I'd stop complaining about it being not being absolutely perfect and start kissing ass to get the file...:D:nervous:
Makes me wish I did know how to use a rendering program, nice work.:)
-
Epsilon Pegasi is also misspelt.
-
In the image, yes. E P is wrong, as is Dubhe, and Alpha Centauri. They've since been corrected.
