Am I right, or am I right?
-
You're right as far as it goes.
Solid inner core, molten outer core, then mantle and crust. Gotta have some sort of fluidity in there or you don't have any magnetism, and thus no magnetosphere, VanAllen radiation belts or protection from cosmic rays and solar wind. In short, we'd all be toast.
-
In theory even a solid core that was molten for a time can hold a magnetic field for a decent amount of geologic time.
-
No, you're wrong. Else you will never get your epic gear. GG
-
What difference does it matter to me? I wear cloth, so it's all a waste of time.
-
Cream filling > molten core.
-
If the core is molten, where do the air bubbles float up to?
Actually, this is something I've always wanted to know - what happens to gravity as you get closer and closer to the center of the earth?
-
after you go below the surface, the earth no longer acts as a point source of gravity. you will be pulled on the sides more and more the closer you get.
-
What the hell, did this thread get seperated from another thread or I just do not understand what their saying and is thinking of chocolate

As you go deeper and deeper into the Earth you'll find that you weigh less and less.
There is no net gravity inside a hollow sphere because at the centre the pull from above you is equal to the pull from below you.
If the Earth was hollow they'd still be no gravity anywhere on the inside surface either. The same rules would apply. Although the "ground" you were standing on would pull you down the "sky" (I.e the rest of the planet) would be pulling you up with an equally strong force.
That's why whenever you see people mention Dyson Spheres they're always having to put gravity generators on the outside surface. If you didn't everyone would just float off and be slowly pulled into the sun. Also pretty much rules out the Hollow Earth (http://www.unmuseum.org/hollow.htm) theory too.
Because the Earth is solid however you do have a bigger force pulling on you from "below". The centre however would still be weightless and the pull of gravity would lessen the closer you were to the middle. If you were to fall down a shaft that went all the way through the Earth you wouldn't pop out on the other side. Air resistance would slow you down too much so you bob back and forth and eventually come to rest in the middle of the Earth :)

I was waiting for something like that :p
-
@Karajorma: Wow, can you really get to Middle-Earth like that? :D ;)
-
DC for the win. Judgement Armour is hardly worth the **** though.

According to some that is where Hitler is hiding :)

Well, not my fault you chose a palladin. Warrior or priest would have been a much better choice, as I have done. :p
-
It's not that the armour isn't nice. It's just not 6-hours to get to Lucifiron because your group is totally pants nice.
-
Saruman = Hitler in disguise.
Or is it Sauron?
Or Fooruman? :/

That sounds like an awesome ride.
Assuming the air pressure didn't kill you and you didn't run into any walls. :p
-
...
That is all.
-
What the hell?
-
So how do the Mole Men live then, huh?
Honestly, I don't pretend to know nearly enough about science to understand the ramifications of the molten-core-in-comet experiment, so I'll just say cool and leave it at that.
-
Bah. at least you're high enough level to go in there. My guild isn't even big enough to do MC.
Of course, by the time I level up that high, we should be good.

Pwah, Warlock all the way. And Dreadmist set to go with it, of course.

It's kindaa funny how there's two distincively different conversations taking place in this thread.
-
Warrior ftw. Especially for beating up those annoying rogues who enjoy dodging far too much for their own good.

Start with a vague enough topic and people will just talk about something else :)
-
Well, to be honest, I'll retract my statement: nothing. I've cancelled my account after 3 weeks of being unable to play.
-
3 weeks? How?
-
How? Being too patient, I guess. Error #132, they give ridiculous ways of fixing it (that won't work, too), and won't do anything about it.
Guess I'll give another go at Lineage2 some day ~~. It was frustrating as hell, but at least, that one I could actually play, and it was beautiful ~~
-
I thought you played Guild Wars?
-
I bought it as a replacement for WoW, but after a few days playing, I have decided I don't like it ( not a bad game or anything, but not what I want), so I'm gonna sell it.
-
Suxor.
I don't know. My guild sucked pretty hard. And we had to recruit some guys from HeX to come with us. They actually turned out to be less snobbish than my peeps though. Go figure. Anyway, six hours into it, and the ph4t l00tz0r we got was from our first two kills. Bah.
And the Paladin is probably the most boring class, but everytime I play another class, I play like a Paladin, so I get screwed either way.
