SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) - A man who rescued a swimmer caught in swirling currents of the San Marcos River found himself in trouble soon afterward when he was arrested by authorities who claimed he was interfering.

****ing ******* cop.

OMFG **** THE POPO PIG BASTARDS!!!!1

According to police, Newman smirked and seemed annoyed by officers' requests. He stood in the water for about 15 seconds before swimming downstream.
What a complete cock, he deliberatly ignores Police and endangers himself and that of the guy in the water just so he can play the hero, if you ask me, this bloke deserved to get put away...
-
He didn't endanger anyone but himself. The guy in the water was as good as gone. The cops had no intention of helping him.
So what if it was an ego trip? he deserves it.
-
He should not have done that. But I also think that since he pulled it off he should not have been arrested for it.
-
There was nobody else who could do it, so I say this guy did the right thing. I don't see that he interfered with anything except the other man's death.
-
the guy was about to drown. i dont give a **** what the authorities say, if i can help a person whos about to die, im in that water kicking
-
The ends justified the means.
-
Cops are probably ****ty because they arn't the "heroes"

Have you even read the article?! Nowhere does it state what the Police and Emergency Personel were doing when this moron jumped in and played hero, they were likely setting up a towline or some such device that would allow someone to enter the currents SAFELY, thus creating no danger for the Drowning Individual and the Rescuer. The Police were just doing their job, and this guy deserved to be punished for disobeying professionals in an attempt to get his name in the paper...which unfortunately he succeeded in doing...

Couldn't have said it any better myself.
-
Without knowing more, I don't think the guy should've been arrested.
-
You're right. They should ahve shot him.

No. hey were looking at the spectacle, chatting about football and women. Maybe they were gambling on the outcome, too. Yeah, most likely, since cops are known to be the most worthless scum of universe, and totally useless too.

Wow Nico, i didn't know you were a Cop!
-
[q] The police report does not mention Newman's rescue Sunday afternoon of 35-year-old Abed Duamni.[/q]
Convenient...
-
I'm not a cop, but cop bashing for any possible reason is something that annoys me. If there were no cops around, I'm so sure people would live muuuuuuuuuch better... For exemple, I would be free to start my holy crusade against worldwide stupidity. Getting rid if them all stupid jerks should fix many problems, considering 4/5 of humanity would have to be purged, too.
But, really... if you forget about that catastrophical story of a man who spent a night in jail, doesn't the fact that "in April, a 22-year-old college student drowned after he and three other restaurant workers jumped from the eatery into the river", and then that guy went for a swim and didn't see any danger sign, strikes you as being the main probleme here? Security carelessness anybody? Seems nobody gives a damn, it isn't as interesting as cop bashing.
-
Meh its Texas, what do you expect? :doubt:
-
Not much.
-
except stupid hicks.
-
LOL You do know that's about as bad as calling all cops dumb, doughnut eating loungers, you know ;)
Seriously though, part of me says this guy risked the life of two people to act the hero, himself and the drowning person. Another part of me says that if he wants to risk his life pulling stunts like that, good for him, better than standing to one side wringing your hands going 'oh dear, how terrible!'.
Need more info really at what stage the Police rescue was actually at when he dove in really :)

Hew.. wow, i didnt know you were a flaming duchebag... funny...

From his name i have a feeling telling me its not too far off to believe the cops were standing there thinking "Hah, look at that terroist drown"
-
and if the guy had drowned everyone would be like
"why didn't someone jump in and help him ?!" :blah:
-
Exactly, so regardless of who saved who the end result was a life saved.
