Iv'e been attempting to install new scp builds (so I can watch cutscenes:D ) and I can't figure it out and I know it has to be something very simple that I'm missing.
So the deal is whenever I download and unzip the new .exe's I stick them in the FS2 folder and BAM! whenever I try to run them I get some kind of error like this:
I tried running with the launcher as well but still no go. Iv'e tried two different builds but got the same thing.
Any help is appreciated :)

Try -dnoshowvid (Don't play movies option) and/or OpenGL mode.
-
But see thats the entire point I'm trying to watch vids and I forgot to mention I get that message on game startup.
EDIT: trying OpenGl now though.
-
Well, if -dnoshowvid fixes it, I'd guess you don't have the correct version of DivX installed.
-
Well I tried OpenGL and now it just gets a windows error message.
Those .map files that come with new builds where are those supposed to go? I stuck them in the main directory and in the maps folder.
EDIT: And what would be the correct version of DivX?
-
.map files let you debug an EXE given the location that an error occurs in memory, without having to use a debug build (which can sometimes cause bugs to disappear without fixing the problem in release builds, which are much faster.)
The EXEs don't actually access them, so they can be anywhere you like.

I think it would be DivX 5 or higher. I'm not entirely sure.

Here's a question I should have asked at first:
What folder do the .avi versions go in?

http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/fsdoc/index.php?pagename=Folder%20Tree

Thank you.

Yep it's Divx 5.0 for the ones I encoded.
