Have it be a list-style view, with the campaigns arranged in rows (maybe with a little icon by the name if the campaign submitter wants), with the following fields:
Name
Num. Missions
Status
Min. FS version to play
Home page link
Download link
Avg. rating
Then to the left of that, have the usual little plus symbol. When clicked, this opens up the description just below the campaign's name. Or, mouseovering the campaign's name makes the desctiption pop up.

Why make a wholly new list? Skippy only has to make some additions, namely the Min. FS version to play. The average rating is not a bad idea in itself, but who would rate the campaigns? There are so few rated campaigns on the HLP front page that it makes it clear people never rate.
The download link and Homepage link need not be seperated: It's obvious that the website has a download link, too.
And the Min. FS version to play may mislead people: For example, The Journey to Epsilon Pegasi was optimized for FSO_3_6, but it probably runs with older versions.

I think the reason no one rates the campaigns on the campaign list on HLP is cause no one really knows about it. Skippy's list is really the definitive one. Everyone always says to check that one out and rarely the HLP list.

I can't even log in to the front page, so rating is out of the question for me. This applies to some other people as well (namely Raa and a few others who have mentioned it)...
-
I couldn't either. I just made a new alias called Kie for the front page.

?
I saw you rate a render. I don't know which, but I did see your name on the front page.

I had no clue Skippy's list even existed when I wrote this up. It's very difficult to actually find campaigns if they aren't big-name, like TBP. The Campaign List on HLP is hard to browse to find completed ones (and I get the impression that it's not up-to-date). Skippy's list is a lot better, but hard to find (The first time I saw that thread, I assumed everyone was expecting people to read through the whole thing to find their campaign status).
Yes, somehow I've managed to be on HLP since *checks* 2001 and just learned about Skippy's list yesterday.
TopAce: If something was optimized to run on a higher version, but still runs on a lower version, the lower version is the minimum required version to play it. :p
