it's a different main screen. I never got this when I originally played this years ago. PLus I beat the game. THis has never happened. Crappy easter egg?
-
That is the main screen for the WONDERFUL Inferno mod:nod:  ;)
-
Just so you know in future kie*, save your pics as JPG or PNG when you upload them, and they will be much bigger.
*God, it felt weird typing that. Like I'm talking to myself.
-
Red summed it up perfectly. That is indeed the Inferno mainhall, as that is the Garghant, as I believe.
-
Nuke is correct, it's the Gargant. I would have bet my life that it was a Sathanas though, before I got the model.
-
AH. Thanks guys. ANd I have a twin!
-
While I'm on Inferno, I can't load any weapons plus the ship loadout only gives me the Ulysses fighter and the weapons is either blank or I can't load any thing.

If your Freespace 2 directory has a space in it. (C:\games\freespace 2) rename your Freespace 2 folder to FreeSpace2. If your folder is already called Freespace2 Proceed to next step.
If you are using the SCP, first make sure you have the SCP patch. Then put all the Inferno VPs (including the patch) into a folder called 'Inferno', go into the Launcher, click features, click 'Select MOD', and select the Folder called 'Inferno'. Then click run. If you are not using the SCP then proceed to the next step. If you are then Inferno should now be working.
Ensure all of the Inferno VPs are in your Freespace2 directory, and ensure you have no files in your C:\games\freespace2\data\tables folder. Inferno should now be working.
If none of this works then ask someone else.
-
where is this scp patch?
-
Go looking through the Inferno forums :)
-
The Inferno SCP Patch Download Link (http://www.fileplanet.com/dl.aspx?/3dactionplanet/hlp/hosted/inferno/infr1scpv10.exe)
-
how can I change the screen back?
-
Turn the MOD off, or move the VP files out of your Freespace2 Folder.
-
which files? cause after I did the install thing, it showed up. Changing campaigns didn't help either
-
All the files that say INF at the beginning.
INF_2Patch
INF_core
INF_ea
INF_enemies
INF_GTVA_CH1
INF_SOCVas
INF_Terran

The one thing I've learned while modding is you must become familiar with the FS2 directory structure. For instance when you want to use Fred making a mission for a mod, you must put the ships and weapons tbl's in the main directory etc...

Not woth FRED2_Open. Recent versions fully support mod and multimod.
Simply create a shortcut and in the target box add -mod ModName or -mod mod1,mod2
Moving folders was a big pain in the arse with FRED2 and I really hope I've seen the last of it forever now :)

Good one Kara thx mate:nod:

now I have an error showing up.
Error: Invalid subsystem name.

Are you opening it in FRED? Your problem there I would think would be that you don't have the Saphah model/table entry, and therefore, it would show up as a Ulysses.
Derelict was full of bugs, but I remember rather vividly that the Cypher fired both of its beam cannons at the Ithaca in that mission, so it's not a FREDing error.
-
I haven't touched FRED.
-
FS2 quits when I open the briefing room now since I have gone onto Derelict and I get the error that I posted above. Is there anything to fix this?
-
How have you installed Derelict? This sounds like the kind of problem you get when you have too many mods installed in the wrong places.
-
Yeah. I've knida started a bunch of error threads. Kinda want to tone it down . ANyways. I'm having this problem with the Derelict campaign. I uninstalled the INferno campaign because the main screen was getting annoying (lame, huh?) I've gone through a few missions and I'm the error I posted right after RED DIAMOND's 2nd post. The error pops up, FS2 quits. Now I can't get past the main screen when I click the go to mission door. It locks up and FS2 shuts down to the desktop.
-
It's the way you're installing them that's the problem. You're running FS2_Open so there is no good reason for you to not be installing everything in it's own folder and thereby avoid these problems.
Don't put anything in the main FS2 folder or Freespace2\Data. The only reason for ever doing that now is if you're using something like the high poly Mjolnir and can't wait for it to be included in a media.vp.
Run all mods using the -mod option. That's what it's there for.
-
Where do you have derelict installed?
-
ah......

so do I put mods & campaigns in C:\Games\"new folder here"
or C:\Games\Freespace2\"new folder here"?
-
in the Freespace2 folder
-
what are the files installed by the derelict installer becuase I can choose where I install the files.
-
Anything ending in .vp that isn't one of these files needs to move
# Anything starting with mv_
# root_fs2.vp
# sparky_fs2.vp
# sparky_hi_fs2.vp
# stu_fs2.vp
# tango1_fs2.vp
# tango2_fs2.vp
# tango3_fs2.vp
# smarty_fs2.vp
# warble_fs2.vp
Then check your Data folder for files or better yet copy the entire thing to the Derelict folder you created and then copy Freddocs and Players back into a new Freespace2\Data folder.
-
ANother problem.....THe "Advancment of Learning" level always fails me even though I get the ships safely to the destination.
-
All of the ships? You aren't using cheats, are you? IIRC, very few of the convoys ships actually make it; the Einstein, Endeavour, and a couple of others go down, and the Meridian, Haulian, and Arbiter make it to the station.
-
nevermind. when the enemy wings destroyed the einstein, they were able to get to the escape pods really quickly all of the times. PAst it now.
