Black Wolf helped me out with the texturing on this thing, and I'm thinking about POFing it for release. Thoughts (more pics if you click the link, I'm trying to watch the bandwidth) and comments?
And before anyone says it, it is supposed to be atmospheric capable, thus the wings. Tenative name, GTF Daedalus.

VEry, very nice..
Alltough I don't realyl like the front section too much..
-
Cocpit is an interesting design... Nice to have another 2 seater out there, with the Losna.
BTW; Feel free to ask for space from Hippo. He has plenty of subdomains he can give out, and there's ftp access. It's fairly reliable, too.
-
Maybe it's my Homeworldy mood, but the back seriously reminds me of the Taiidan Interceptor.
Very nice, clean design.
-
- Dude, I hate it. Its ugly as hell.
- Dude, I love it. Its gorgeous.
Strat, I can't decide. I either love it or I hate it, either way it looks like a damn fine piece of work. :D
-
It's got that arrowhead feel to it, which would warrant straighter edges and a wider span on the body, but I guess it's alright.
Looks pretty good...nice and smooth. Like a modern day space shuttle actually.
-
Looks like it would do well for atmospheric entry ala the shuttle, except the people in the cockpit would get burned to a crisp. Thank God for shields, eh? :p
At least it's named for the guy who *didn't* drown. ;)
Looks nice. I like it.
-
It looks good, but i don't like the front of this ship...
-
It's meant for atmospheric entry?
Cool :)
-
I'd have tryed to make an hole in the wings around the canopy, starting from the red stripe, with the shape of the wings that will remain the same. Pretty nice, anyway
-
The ship is the shiznit. But i wouldn't want to be the guy flying it.
-
One bump to that glass cockpit....
It looks fine otherwise, though.

He already thought of that. Note the second cockpit.
The first one is just padding, to keep the inertial dampeners from having to work too hard if he bumps into anything. :p

[Freudian slip]Oooooh, nice Terran suicide, err, Intercept fighter![\Freudian slip]
I really meant to say Intercept, really, I did.;)
-
that looks like it would fit right in with the SOL ships in BWO, just put some bright green on it. :)
-
it needs more color variation though, and could you maybe make a few animated primary and or secondary bancks :D
-
Looks good Strat. I think you should make a true model out of it for FS2.
-
I already have :D
I'm just trying to figure out how I'm going to package it, then I'll put it on Hades Combine.
-
Are you releasing the Draco as well, out of curiosty? TBH I prefer that'n :D
-
I've yet to add a cockpit to it, but yes I'll ultimately release it too. And I agree, it's the better of the two.
-
If you've got a heavier looking one (and are willing to wait the inordinate amount of time I normally take ;)) I'd be willing to round out the trio with a heavy assault fighter...
-
How about a bomber? I've lost the pics online but I can try to find (and post/PM) them when I get home. I can add a pair of gunports to the Draco and make it heavy assault (the wings store weapons... yeah... :nervous:) so that we do have a set.
-
I thought the Draco would be Space Sup, this obviously the Interceptor, leaving a spot for heavy assault. Though that could be a dual role heavy Assault Light bomber I suppose, ala the Athena.
-
You're right, I'm trying to merge classes. But the bomber is a medium-heavy bomber, Medusa inspired but with enough bay space to look more like an Ursa. None of this block with ball cockpit garbage of FS2 bombers ;)
EDIT: I can't find any valid links. The one I can post is this one, and from this angle they're not that different. Anyway, two variants to play with, or not.
Or I could ditch the bomber and put together a third heavier fighter. It's really up to you BW, if you have a preference and are willing to give one a stab at some point :)
-
Heh one looks like the Medusa Bomber only...... streamlined

model is great tho(w00t for high poly!), and the texture is sweet aswell.

They look different enough to warrant two separate classes - bomber and Heavy Assault.
-
Startcom, on the original pic I love the mid section of the fuselage and the rear assembly (tails engines) keep that look. I'd like to see a whole line of fighters with that exact feature, but with diff wings and cockpits!!!!
-
So, I've been working on this little project again. The interceptor hasn't changed, so go back to the first page to see shots of it. Then there's the Draco (space superiority), which I've finally gotten around to sticking a cockpit in.
And finally, though I just tried contacting BW about this this afternoon and haven't yet gotten a response, a heavy assault fighter. It's got a UV map, but no textures.

Once this thing gets done, I'm going to pack the three up and release them together.
-
There is already a Deadalus....Aldo made it for casualties of war
but i do like the designs alot
-
I think the wingtips on the third one need to come back down, but other than that, three nice models there. :)
-
Crikey man, you've got some excellent design and talent going on there. Kudos!
A little constructive crits if I may though. Especially where the first model you posted is concerned. The top and the bottom just don't seem to match. That is to say - the top wings are angular and pointy. The bottom is almost like a boats hull in its smoothness. I think it would be better to go with one or the other... angular or smooth. Mixing them looks wrong to me.
-
For some reason, these models scream "Wing Commander" at me...
-
 on all three of those :)
-
Actually the one textured above reminds me more of a SHROUD from Starlancer than Wing Commander... Guess that's why I like it.
-
it does look a lot like a Shroud, but then again, it also looks a lot like a Dralthi. Which looks a lot like a Shroud.
-
Wow, really impressive Strat.
-
Nice, melikey :)
-
We need another "D" name.
-
Dionysus
Roman name Bacchus. See The Olympians for more information and another picture.
Dionysus was the god of wine, the son of Zeus and Semele, and the rescuer of Ariadne after she had been abandoned by Theseus. Dionysus also rescued his mother from the Underworld, after Zeus showed her his true nature as storm god and consumed her in lightning. It was Dionysus who granted Midas the power to turn whatever he touched into gold, then was kind enough to take the power back when it proved inconvenient.
Danaides
The fifty daughters of King Danaus of Argos, who were married on a single occasion to fifty suitors. As instructed by their father, all but one of them murdered their husbands on their wedding night. As a result, they were condemned to an afterlife of unending labor, carrying water from the Styx in leaky jars.
-
You know, it doesn't HAVE to start with a 'D'. I only chose Daedalus for the interceptor after I realized Icarus was the one who drowned :p
Actually, I'd really love to have all three of these named after greek myth-historical figures somehow. Draco started out along those lines, but I was pressed for time when I named the second one.
-
For the Heavy fighter i would still go with MINOTAUR. And i would call the Interceptor CEREBUS.
Hades' guard dog, a relative of both the Chimaera and the Hydra. Cerberus was carried up from Hades by Heracles in one his Labors. This was achieved only after a protracted battle in which the hero was mauled by the hound's fangs and menaced by snakes growing from his back and tail. In contrast, Cerberus abandoned his watchdog task and lay down meekly to the strains of Orpheus's lyre when that minstrel journeyed to the Underworld in search of his dead wife Eurydice. The poison used in Medea's attempt to murder Theseus was made from Cerberus's drool.
