Title: Quick request (sortof?)
Post by: Hippo on July 20, 2005, 09:10:55 am
Can someone make me an iso of FS2 disk 1? Mine is scratched just enough that the installation won't finish... Freespacezone and its mirrors' links are all broken, GW doesn't have them any more, e-mule doesn't like me, and the FTP is damn near impossible to get into.

If someone could make one (or take one that they already had) and find some way to get it to me, i'd be eternally gratefull... (if its less than 800Mb, which it should be RARed, i can provide you an upload spot).

Any takers?

Nero only wants to make nrg files rather than ISOs. If you can give me a good suggestion for an ISO making program I might be able to make one for you.

Oh, and i'm also looking for someone with a pilot who's finished the campaign (so i could access the tech room)... I could play through in a day if i tried, but thats a lot of work for a specific goal :p

Provide away... The ISO is 607MB so it would take ~6 hours to finish. If we are lucky.

I'm not sure why you'd need to see the techroom as it exists after the end of FS2's main campaign, but if you're just looking for some ship there may I suggest ctrl-shift-s.

OK. It's on its way. ETA ~7 hours. Unless it crashes. Fingers crossed.

Thanks Rott :)

StratComm: my overall goal is to run in retail... The amount of system rescources taken up by retail is much lower than that of the SCP, so I will be able to run fraps without it slowing to .5fps (seriously, with lowest settings for capture, and running 640x480)...

Well, good luck with that. *waves fist at his ISP* Damn you for not letting me upload at  full speed :arr: But now, you must excuse me, for i'm going to play some FS2 myself.

What's that have to do with -allslev?  It's a retail flag AFAIK.

Simply adding another retail campaign to your data folder called Freespace2.fc2 will allow you to play any mission you want from the techroom>>single missions option.

As for the need to reinstall why bother? Move all your media.vp files, rename data and then run the SCP launcher and turn off all the command line flags and you're done.

I've had to do that a few times in order to use Tom's Old Build and it works perfectly well.

hm... didn't think of that (though, i'd still need a copy of cd1 to give to a friend :p)

I'll let you know how it works...

Odd... I even restarted and tried...

I get that as soon as i click mission simulator. Not before, just then... I renamed data to dataOLD, moved the media vp's to a folder, ran the scp launcher and removed all the command lines, ran the fs2 launcher and chose the right settings, copied my pilots folder from the dataOLD folder, and stuck it in an empty folder called data in the correct directory, (theres 2 pilots that were never wiped clean by FSO apparently).

It works ok when i select the pilot that's at the beginning of the campaign, but not the other (i don't know where its left off)...

Forgot to mention that if you choose a pilot who'd on say Mission 11 of the main campaign and then replace the campaign with a 10 mission one you're going to have strange things happen.

I guess that's what was happening to you.

Agh, and after I dug up the names of all the retail VP files for detailed instructions. (Would've been faster to type them up, yes. :p)
