I'm making a mission for TBP, and I'm trying to get rid of the sun inside a nebula. Whatever I do the game just create a sun.
I did a search for it, but most of the results were very old, and I didn't really find the answer I was looking for, so any help would be appreciated.

I dunno, but try using a completely black sun file (.pcx)... you wont get rid of lightning and sun glare though...
-
I'm pretty sure if you edit the mission file in notepad and change the sun name to a kind of sun that doesn't exist (SunOobieDoobie for instance) you won't get a sun or any lighting.
-
also you could make the sun as small as possible, in a nebula you shouldn't be able to see
-
Have you tried using the "ambient" suns ? They have no (or a black) image, but I'm not sure if the game creates a new sun then.
-
Ransom Arceihn's trick does the job, thanks.
Making it small doesn't take away the sun lightning and stuff, and with ambient suns the game still create a new one.
-
wouldn't that make it... really, really dark?
-
It does. As of right now, I put in a 'ambient_dark' sun, then another sun. Then I edited away the other sun. It's still a little darker than I would have wanted, but it's alot better than with no suns at all.
Any way to increase the ambient light?

There are sliders for amient light right below the sun selector in the more recent FRED builds.

Yah, I've seen them. Unfortunately, they don't seem to do much. And they always reset when I load up the map.
Not sure what's the proper usage of them.
