Title: How do I install The GIMP?

OK, I downloaded GIMP from download.com. and I got a massive archive full of files I have no idea what to do with.  How do I change it into a working Photoshop alternative?

you can probably just get an installer from the official site.

That's what I did yesterday. Go to their site, go to the windows versions, and you can get an installer.
