Title: What do the different ships remind you of?

Just state what the ships remind you of, sort of what they look like.

I'll start with the destroyers and other big ships:

Terran:

Orion: Sort of a boxy surgical needle

Hecate: Some kind of battering ram

Hades: An old - fashioned rocket

Colossus: Some kind of rifle

Arcadia: A moon with a ring around it (when viewed from a certain angle on the side)

Vasudan:

Typhon: Some sort of fish

Hatshepsut: A vacuum cleaner

Shivan:

Ravana: A leg bone

Demon: A horseshoe crab

Lucifer: A lobster

Sathanas: A snake's head

Ravana = a sort of large ray-gun type thing

Orion =  a collection of random geometric shapes crudely glued together (that's most Terran ships)

Sathanas =  a bird's talon (look at it from the front)

Rahkshasa = a cylinder

I think it looks more like a snake's head because it has fangs and a hood in the back like a cobra

Ravana: Living tool from Geneforge/Geneforge 2. Spiky bits...

Elysium: one of those ugly boxlike Hondas or whoeverthecrapmadethem. They're boxes and they move people.

Erinyes: clothespin

Aeolus: dustbuster

Tauret: a turtle

I don't really know why you are bashing :v:'s models so much. With fantasy, anything can remind you to anything. It seems most people here consider it bad (respect to exceptions).

The main problem is that user-made mods may also remind people to something bad. Actually, more user-made mods are such.

The GVF Reshef, for example is a flying facehugger in space, cloned from the Aliens universe.

So Volition models are no worse in this field.

Not all of the metaphors are bad. Maybe the Honda one, but only because the adjective 'ugly' was used.

Interesting perspective.  It wasn't designed as one (offhand, it was a symmetrical prawn / flower).

I always thought the Aeshma looked like a pooper scooper of some sort. It fits along with the fact that it's full of crap, anyway. ;)

The Artemis:  A swallow or small bird

The Boanerges:  A large chewtoy

The Loki: The bastard child of an Erinyes and a Hercules

The Hercules: A flying toaster.

The Ursa: A really PO'd quarterback on steroids.

The Seth: A turtle

And the Mara: an insect.

The demos is a brick, metaphoricaly atleast. I mean that in a good way, it has a briocklike apperenance that makes it look capable of taking on entire armadas and ramming without hesitation.

And the orion is barely a conglomeration of bricks, too many parts of it are angled or rounded, it looks like a sksycraper in space.

The Hatshepsut looks like more of a metal detector than any type of dirt removal system.

And let's please stay away from male anatomical references for the time being. This is actually an interesting thread.

GTVA Colossus: Large squirt gun. (Supersoaker!)

GTS Hygeia: Artemis that has been snacking on too many twinkies.

NTF Iceni: A Rhinocerous

GVG Anuket: Fecal matter. Just look at the color and shape, but what do you have to eat to get those cool colorful patterns on the bottom?

Lilith/Cain: A lunging animal.

SD Ravana: Some sort of high tech gun. By far the scariest ship in the game if you ask me.

SD Demon: A bear.

SSD Lucifer: A centipede, with the "arms" being the "antennas".

Lucifer:  My mom, paying bills, without coffee.  [don't ask]

Sathanas:  Very Very Very large Crane claw.

Hatshepsut (Why have so many people been spelling that correctly lately:D ):  definitely a giant Vacuum cleaner.

Deimos: A battering Ram.

Iceni:  an even bigger battering ram

Sobek:  Dust buster

Aeolus: Metal detector or microscope.

Nephthys:  A squid minus 8 arms.  Or a plow.  Pick one.

Colossus: 24th and a half century shotgun.
