(never thought I'd say that line......)

[q]Electronic Arts has moved to condemn recent panic surrounding a modification for its recently released Sims 2, making for some of the most straightforward comments heard from the publishing giant.
As you will be aware, this week saw oddball legal man Jack Thompson make some incredible remarks about the game, branding it a training aid for paedophiles, details of which you can read here.
“This is nonsense,” said Jeff Brown, spokesman for EA. “Reasonable people understand there is nothing improper in the game. Reasonable people recognise what mods are. A consumer who chooses to use a mod does so without any kind of agreement with the company. There is no nudity. There is nothing improper or vulgar in the Sims 2.”
Brown continued, “Reasonable people understand the San Jose Mercury News is not responsible for vulgar things that people doodle into the margins of the paper.”
Electronic Arts will no doubt be looking to avoid entering into a similar debacle that is engulfing Rockstar for its Hot Coffee mod, the fallout from which has seen action taken in the House of Representatives stateside.

Slightly off topic

Anyway, the whole thing is just another sensationalisation because they can't use "Dead people in the world today" as a punchline anymore, it's been exhausted.

I suppose they want to avoid being the focus of a ****storm like GTA caused...
-
[color=66ff00]Yeah, it's an attempt to hush the extreme anti-video game nuts.
EA are afterall slave labour gits.

Ohhhh! Your barel is so hot!
-
The "thong camo" is more than Raiden had in MGS2. :shaking:
-
The thong camo is exactly what Raikov had in MGS3. ;)
-
Tell me Raikov is a girl.
I want to play MGS3.
-
I'm guessing not...
-
Er... Raikov was put in the game to poke fun at Raiden. Fortunately he's an enemy so you get to kill him (I usually slit his throat). Although you do see him in a thong briefly it's a small price to pay for the satisfaction of killing him and finally getting revenge for MGS2. And whatever you do, don't let it discourage you from playing the game, play MGS3!
-
I'm holding out on playing MGS3 until I can get a PS2 for cheap...probably when the PS3s come out, IIRC they have backwards compatibility so there'll probably be a flood of new used PS2s.
-
Go play Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory instead. The gameplay is much more rewarding. AKA it's not a long movie with intermittent periods of bad gameplay.
-
Splinter Cell is a yawn-fest.
-
In what way?
-
In that it's boring.
-
Those barells are hot. I think I may fire! :nervous:

[color=66ff00]I'd have to agree, after a while you realise that it's just a poor mans Deus Ex.

Your mom is a yawn fest.

And of course you'd know...
Not to mention, I notice you don't say anything about disagreeing. :p

Little late, but this was funny.

I never quite understood why EA was so bad...can someone enlighten me?
-
They're a monopoly, crushing all original innovative titles under a jackboot of overmarketed franchise sequels with ****ty overpresentation and unskippable developer intro movies.
-
They destroyed Westwood Stuidios...raped the C&C franchise...have perptrated an endless horde of ****ty sports games upon us...
I'd better stop. A comprehensive listing could take weeks.
-
There was a very big stink about the way E.A. treats their programmers. Essentially they're in 'crunch time' 365 days a year, work 12 hours 7 days a week, and the second one project finishes, it's right on to 'crunch time' on another. If someone gets fed up and quits, no biggie, always a fresh crop of young programmers happy to take his place.

[color=66ff00]I believe this is a good summation of their work practices: Link (www.livejournal.com/users/ea_spouse/)

Ugh, sounds nasty. Maybe I shouldn't go into computer science... :shaking:
-
Just avoid EA Ulala and start your own company. :D
LoL at EA firing back at the crazy's.
-
Ugh, I just read the EA article. It sounds like a sweatshop. I don't understand why the staff just don't unionize and strike. I'll never buy another EA game again.
