Yeah, it's the F-22, so? It's an overly expensive fighter made obsolete before it even enters production by the JSF.
edit: Ooooh, it's a game. That is impressive. I thought they were photos.

Too quick.
Yeah, me too.
Now I want to see it in motion...

Actually they're F15s. ;)
Very pretty - but I'm still not getting an Xbox360....

Both F-15s and F-22s are pictured.
EDIT: NM, they are all F-15s aren't they...
-
Those are all f-15's
1'st pic you can tell by the engines, f22's have "flat" exhausts, that vector up and down. Both planes have round exaughst, on the second pic all the tail fins are going straight up, the f22's tail fins lean to the side.
So eitehr those arent f22's or the game developers screwed up.
When i first saw this i thaught "what's so impressive" until i scrolled a few posts donw nad realised it was a game!

Fixed.

Well, stupid me. Still impressive, though.
-
Like a lot of modern games it'll probably be graphically spectacular but ultimately quite shallow. I'll pass...

Go there and watch the 2nd official trailer. So what if it isn't a picture...
-
Is that the subtle advertising juggernaut roaring into action again?
-
Nope, just Microsoft whoring its software some more...

*paints microsoft logos onto Sathanas juggernauts*

While the F-15s in the first pic are nicely modelled and textured, the background is just a blurry photograph, so I wouldn't really call it a screenshot.
-
could be just depth of field, Fishguts...
-
With realtime shadows for all the trees, buildings and terrain ? I highly doubt it.
-
If you go to the link I posted the game designer says that they are especially focused on creating detailed and realistic environments.
-
How dare they disgrace the F-15 with a arcade shooter.:ick: That needs to be burnt.
-
You sure it's arcade? It's listed as simulation and the article says that another thing the developers are focusing on are accurate cockpits and HUDs.
-
You can't do sim on a console; it doesn't have the controller or the hardcore flight sim fanbase.
-
Can't you just get a joystick and keyboard for the Xbox 360, and then you have the Xbox itself.

But how many people are going to shell out that much for 2 new controllers for one game? Not to mention that a keyboard & joystick - proper ones at least - are only really comfy to use on a table or desk. IMO most people have their console in the living room next to a TV, and don't have a readily setup solid surface for that sort of thing.

The player begins each stage with a briefing and then selects a plane and armament. Enemies won't only come in the form of aircraft, as ground and sea targets will also need to be detroyed.
This has "arcade" all over it.
-
Ground and sea targets are now arcade? I have faith in this one...
-
God I thought they were photos. Then I checked the image URL. Bloody Hell.
*drools*

Have you ever played sims? When describing sims, you don't put lines like "enemies will come in the form of ground and air targets" - that's a given. It screams arcade.
Not only that, but you simply can't have a LOMAC or Falcon 4.0 type sim on a console, because the controllers can't handle it. Not only that, but most (not all) of the people who play consoles are generally nowhere near the simulation scene.
-
In a sim, normally it's a given you'll get ground and sea targets; it's not something usually highlighted.
-
Steel Battalion
-
Hehe... It would be funny if this game required it's own controller too...
albeit, Steel Battalion is a bloody awesome game, but it kinda sucks that it costs $200 because of this:

MW doesn't have anything on that...
-
$200? what a waste of money - no wonder I've never heard of it, or seen it for sale in the UK.
-
I agree. I intend to find it one day on Ebay for much less.
-
Surprisingly Capcom actually sold out of it's online store several times for this game...
-
Hmmm.... On Ebay right now I could buy it now for $125 OR I could bid at a starting price of $0.99 (NR). I can't imagine this being a high demand product, so I bet I could get it on auction for quite cheap... probably for less than the shipping ('Cause it's a BIG box).
-
I find it interesting that they'd (Steel Batallion devs) stick to a single console and close their market when it's obviously going to be a niche game. I bet it'd sell much more if it was released on the PS2 (especially in Japan).
BTW: The second screenshot is bloody impressive. I thought the first one looks off because of how the planes fit in with the background.

Like I said, it sold out really quickly, then again, they didn't produce that many at first. I'm betting it was exclusive to the Xbox due to the fact that the game is actually fairly graphically intensive as well as the Live! capabilities... Fun multiplayer game...
-
They seem to have cut down on HW requirements by squeezing the visible rendered area with a huge HUD. That'd surely be a pain in the arse on a small telly........
-
It is more realistic though... I can't imagine a vehicle designed for destruction would have a large and spacious cockpit.
-
I'd imagine a vehicle technologically advanced enough to walk and balance on 2 legs would have overcome the problems of only having a postage stamp sized area of glass.

My thoughts too. Kinda reminded me of Microcosim.
