I can't decide whether to round the area at the front/top of the thing (engine pod?) down towards the middle (green) or keep the angle/slope that's already there (red). Either case will be arched around, making it more tubelike. I like the red idea because I think those angles are what define the Artemis, but I'm not the only one who plays the game and you may have other ideas. Your thoughts
Areas in question (right side shown in subsequent pics):

Straight angled but still arched, shown in red

Curved in addition to the arch, area shown in green

*rough, if I choose this route, I'll redo it better

melikes the red version, not everything should be smooth and round
-
In my opinion, everything should be smooth and round.
Soft too in some cases.
-
 @BlackDove
Not everything needs to be smooth and round, Col. Fishguts, but the Artemis SHOULD be.
-
Smooth. Round.
Enough said.
-
need to add a cockpit ;7
-
I removed the cockpit when I worked on it, its off to the side waiting to be "re-installed", its pretty much done except for some minor tweaks
BTW, no one's hi-polied the Artemis yet right?
-
nope...
can't wait to see the see through cockpit!
-
...But wasn't the Artemis supposed to have a rugged look to it? Not to say blocky, more like edgy.
-
I don't think so. Everything about it suggested it was supposed to be built like a bullet.
Low Poly sort of ruined that. Time for retribution.
-
Make sure you make a 3-fin tailed version too. Why the D.H. changed THAT I'll never know, but since it's functionally identical in every other way I hope you make a mesh for it too.
-
I'll see what I can do about the D.H. once I finish the regular variant what the does D.H. stand for anyway?
-
Dark hull
?
-
Dead Heat? Since it's identical to the Artems in almost every way.
-
It maneouvers faster or it has stronger hull. One or the other.
They were probably planning to work it into the game with a better storyline and reason, but most likely decided it wasn't worth the hassle and just stuck it in because it was there.
-
Identical in stats, and identical in geometry except for the tail fins. That's why it'd be really easy to do a high-poly version, as I think even the UV space is the same.
And please, please, please tell me you're putting in a visible cockpit ;7
-
IIRC in the ship selection screen it claims slightly better mobility
-
Yeah but the tables show that it's a lie :)
-
good ol' placebomber

Placebo effect.
-
That and the fact that they probably got to it in the artwork department but not in the technical one.
Hence kind of a showcase that it was shunned.
The D.H. should be good for modders though. I mean, there's your concept art almost finished, why not just add something more than the fins, adjust it to the artwork and make it kick ass?
-
I think someone just forgot to change the tables.
(I personally took the liberty of reducing its turn time in all the axis by half a second. :drevil:
-
I always used the Artemis when I could, the white-light grey texture suits it better that the DH texture, and 4 fins are cooler
I might have to get creative when it comes to the cockpit...
The canopy has been rounded and smoothened...it'll look sexy!

Might?! The bloody thing has a full wraparound and under cocpit! It's have to be, like, a seat with a console that wraps around it, suspended in space.
Actually, that'd be kinda cool....
-
Hell with "kinda," that'd be incredibly cool. :) Makes sense for a bomber, too; the expanded field of view would make it easier for you to see where the next turret/subsystem/whatever is.
-
think the pilot should be lying face down on his stomach in a kind of suspended rack with the controls in front of him
-
That would be pretty aweful to fly though. I can't lie on my bed like that for more than a couple of minutes without getting a stiff neck; I can't imagine doing high-G manuvers in that position.
-
For that position to work the torso needs to be inclined slightly and a chin rest or a head suspender
