Started working on Whitehall station again.
I got it turreted, with subsystems and 2 lods.. need to make a few more lods nad debris, path it and it will be done.
Just 25 turrets, but this beast doesn't need many guns anyway. it mesures 16000m on it's longest side. ( a bit more than I wanted, but the blasted Hecate couldn't fit the repair bay becoause of the blasted wings)

I love it. Is it an orbital ships yard or just a repair dock

Starbase
It has one massive construction/repair dock (for my Archy), one large destroyer dock (3 destroyers can be repaired at once - one inside, two below), 3 fighterbays (but I can allways add more - it has more than enough space for that) and allso a large docking arm for other ships (up to 8 ships can dock at once)
For armament, it has 5 huge double-barreled roraring turrets, 5 LRBGreens and 15 Flak/AAf turrets

how big is it exactly, as in overall dimensions?
arent lrbgreens a bit overkill for starbase? dont they usually have ships to defend them, rather than the other way round?:D

I think its a refreshing change. I mean, they have plenty of room, and it is a strategic installation. Why shouldn't it be able to defend itself?

Indeed. Very purty. And it sounds like it could be the focal point of some good stories, or at least a site often seen. Especially with those multidockpoints...yes....

Trashman has tons of awesome stuff, but slated for other engines. Maybe we can twist his arm to release them bit by bit here ;)

Should be done soon... I got 4 lods done, the debris, got it converted and everything - I'm currently pathing it.
Got 4 docks pathed (shoulsdI path 4 more....yes, whata question!) and 1 fighterbay.
3 fighterbays left. Should I path the cruiser bay?
Meh.. I will release VERY soon (in hours) when I'm done pathing.
B.t.w. - just tested it - looks cool with an Orion and several Deimoses docked at the mast.

4 fighterbays (4 paths each)

4 LODS
2 debis parts (not much, I know)
29 texture maps overall
~10000 polys

The POF is 6,6MB large, I had to rar it for better compression.

Aynoe notice any bugs or anything?
I experience the dissapering station bit.
When I'm more than 20k away the station just vanishes alltough I have all the LODs - it's like it's invisible!

Well, this gives me something to use for the Vega Installation, finally...
EDIT: Well, it's funny colors in FRED, but that seems to have no actual effect ingame.

Parts of the station are invisible. Are you sure you packaged all the textures with it?
I'd fix it and rename textures and stuff, but Modelview won't open it.

Darn..now I'll have to doublecheck the whole mesh and re-convert!
Oh, the textures I put in the rar are only those that aren't normal (stock) FS2 textures.
Everything should be there. hmm? Can you tell me what parts are invisible?

Allrighty - re-uploaded.
Turret is now fixed and the texture count is 20.
(turns out that since I was using differend barrled turrets, they were textured with a different texture set and I haven0t even noticed that)
@Soltar - try downloading the new rar - it has 2 more texures in it. and if that doesn't work, tehy opening it in PCS and switching textures there.
On another note, how come that a simple job like nameplating a few stock ships got highlited anyway? And something like this didn't?

Hull is 4200 polys, with those 8 turrets and the missile launcher it comes up to 8000

Actually, I have to say this station is probably the first thing you've made, Trashman, that I've genuinely, unabashedly liked. Good job. Its got a real Tachyon: The Fringe installation feel to it. Though it really needs to be more massive to truly compare. That game had the BEST installations. Every last one of them dwarfed everything the player could fly. The way an elephant dwarfs an ant.

My only suggestion on the station is that it could use a little texture variety.
But then everyone else seems to love it, so what do I know?
