I'm in Washington D.C. right now and it's hot as hell. Started visiting the smithsonian today (Got through the natural history museum and 3/4 of the way through the air and space museum) and the white house and the oher monuments are just a few blocks down the street from the hotel. The hotel is ridiculously overpriced as everything seems to be but it's still a nice trip.
I'm here 'till friday does anyone have any suggestions of places to go?

Visit your senator.....or your state representative, oh wait congress is on Holiday. Umm well, there are no IMF protest unfortunatly, cause those are always entertaining. Well I would suggest the hard rock cafe for lunch and the holocaust museum. Although, you might want to go before lunch. cause well umm, you know. But then again you might loose your appetite after walking through it. I do suggest the national gallery, the vietnam and Korean memorials.

yeah, it's been like a furnace in this area for the last few weeks. I have been to those places several times when I was younger, but don't really remember much now.

My dad works at the IMF and finds those to be a convenient excuse to take the day off. :D

It's D.C.-- pick up a nice young hooker then get stabbed in an alley.
When in Rome....

I was in DC a few years back, but I was visiting a couple of friends that lived nearby. Can't really recommend anything beyond just the general touristy stuff. Rorry. :p

come to my house! :)
i live about 10 miles away.

Legal Seafoods. Just don't let anyone give you a Lobster anatomy lesson... (bad date, don't ask...)

Hey, have some fun Aussie style; All you need to do is get your suitcase, and go stand in fron of the White House saying you want to speak to Mr Bush and you won't leave until he comes down...in only a few minutes, maybe an hour at the most, you'll get yourself tackled! How fun is that!! :D

We didn't rent a car and most taxis in town don't run that far
@Mefustae One problem is that you can't get within 3 blocks of the place right now.

Three blocks? Wow.
Pretty much all there is to do in DC is the touristy stuff. Go to the WWII memorial. They just finished that recently. Participate in a protest. Oh, and see if you can flip off Bush or better yet, see if you can actually tell him to **** off from 200 yards and still get away from the Secret Service.
:p added to make sarcasm obvious.

Can you outrun a sniper bullet?
"Participate in a protest"
I'm bored so I'm going to protest the general sadness that pervades the world! It's going to make a huge difference and will be totally worthwhile, more worthwhile than holding down a job!

Hang out in Georgetown. There's a nice little restaurant/bar called The Tombs there. I think it's on something like 35th and Prospect. Also, good food can be found at Wiesemiller's Deli (I recommend the Chicken Madness) which is on 36th and O, I think. If those aren't the right addresses, then they're really close to them.

Go on the flight simulator rides in the Air and Space museum...:D

Oh yeah... good call Solatar. Those are mad fun. Blow stuff up, fly around... whee! And for only $5.

The line was about 200 ft. long yesterday for the flight simulator, I'll try tomorrow.'
It's like this town is absent of grocery stores or something I mean damn I haven't seen one since I've been here.
Oh yeah, Iv'e visited all of the monuments that you can in the mall so I was considering being stupid and jumping in the reflecting pool.

Well go to DC south east you will see grocery stores, along with the slums, bars on windows and possibly street crime. Keep in mind that DC is the murder capitol of the world.
