Title: Need Help with ISPs (Aussie ISPs that is)
Post by: mikhael on August 05, 2005, 05:02:00 am
As mentioned in this post (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,34346.0.html), my wife and I will be moving to Oz, specifically Semaphore Park, Adelaide, South Australia.

So. Um...

I'm an addict. I have a ridiculously fat cable pipe to the internet right now. I need to keep my fixes flowing.

What sort of broadband can I get in Oz that isn't going to require me to let Telstra or Optus anally rape me without lube?

I don't know that we have too many South Aussies on the forums actually, so specific details on your area will be thin on the ground. Unfortunately/Fortunately, my ISP's been brilliant, so my family's never really had to change. We're using ADSL through Westnet which is only.... 256 or 512 I think, and, given the name, might not even be available in your area.

I'll look into it. Its going to be ADSL no matter what I do. There's not a lot of copper cable penetration anywhere in Adelaide. Of course, this bodes well for me as a cable installer. ;)

You probably could get ADSL2 which is a bucketload faster then normal ADSL and I think cable is only availiable through telstra and optus.
As for isp there are a alot of those aswell.
