Title: Peter Jennings Killed by Cigarettes
Post by: Sandwich on August 08, 2005, 06:34:04 am: What else is there to say? Cause of death was lung cancer, brought on by years of smoking. :(

I remember him on TV back in the 80's, though barely. R.I.P.

Post by: Sandwich on August 08, 2005, 01:25:14 pm: I'm just an avid anti-smoking nutcase, don't mind me. All the reports stated that he died from lung cancer; it was only when I saw a short video of his life that it said anything about him having smoked for a long time.

Canadian borne and bred...he had a dual citizenship American-Canadian. Still a Canadian...still sounds like a Canadian.

Was an extremely good reporter by all standards of the day and I think that the memorials look back favorably on his accomplishments.

That said, he was one of the few national reporters I actually respect. He made it a point to never be involved in politics, ie fundraisers and the such.
