What else is there to say? Cause of death was lung cancer, brought on by years of smoking. :(
I remember him on TV back in the 80's, though barely. R.I.P.

Who's he?
-
One of America's most well-known news anchors for ABC news.
-
Aw man :( He was my favorite anchor :(

Correction: A Canadian who was one of America's best known news anchors.

You mean "clarification", not "correction"; nothing I stated was inherently wrong. :D

Fair enough :D

Tis a terrible thing to see a grown man torn to pieces by multiple rounds of High Velocity Bensons and Hedges :(

I guess I'm not the only one who clicked expecting to see some weird Darwin Award type story, right?
-
I'm just an avid anti-smoking nutcase, don't mind me. All the reports stated that he died from lung cancer; it was only when I saw a short video of his life that it said anything about him having smoked for a long time.

Nuh-uh. He got his citizenship not to long ago.
-
Doesn't mean he wasn't a Canadian as well.
W007! 10500th post!

Canadian borne and bred...he had a dual citizenship American-Canadian. Still a Canadian...still sounds like a Canadian.
Was an extremely good reporter by all standards of the day and I think that the memorials look back favorably on his accomplishments.

I didn't say that.

You people argue over the stupidest ****.
Btw, I don't recall him not using a non-regional accent. I wonder how he got away with it if he did?
-
oh well, he smoked, he died, what are you going to do. Depending on when he quit, it is his fault.
That said, he was one of the few national reporters I actually respect. He made it a point to never be involved in politics, ie fundraisers and the such.
