Post by: Snake nS on August 09, 2005, 12:22:02 pm
Well first of all the comuniti code proyect is exellent, i never play freespace 2 until now.

Explaining cronology i did this:

First i installed the freespace 2 game.
Then i installed FS2Open_3_6_5-Installer.exe
Then i patched freespace 2 to 1.2
Then i installed mv_zpack.exe
I catch the files and i put all them in the freespace 2 directory, owerwriting the mv_core.vp

I launch the "Launch Freespace2 Open" and i play de game, but the problem is wen i go to the multiplayer hall, and i want to create a game, when i press comit in "the create game part" the game crash.

sory for my english

ok, try a different build. the 3.6.6 installer probably comes with a build that isnt optimized for multiplayer.

Download that build (the .exe) to your hard drive. Move the build to your root freespace 2 directory (usually C:/games/freespace 2/). I am assuming that you have the freespace launcher. Run that and 'browse' to the newly downloaded .exe. Set your desired command line options and then click 'run'

I do remember seeing exactly this problem mentioned before. Can't remember what the solution was though.

If Multi is working for you then others will see your game when they connect online through the lobby.  You shouldn't need to distribute your IP unless you're playing a LAN game.

What is the best build?

My internet connection is insufficient to play Multi over.  I have no idea.  Whichever build is stable for you would be my advice.  I've had good luck with the 7-22 and 7-28 builds in general, except for some screwy AI behavior.

Have a read of these three threads. There might be something pertinent in one of them.

Thread 1 (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,31445.0.html), Thread 2 (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,29543.0.html), Thread 3 (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,24957.0.html)

I really suggest trying Tom's Old Build to check if the problem is your install of FS2.
