Title: FSURP has begun in earnest!!!

Woohoo!

Due to my new computer being built at the weekend:

AMD TBird 1.4ghz
Abit KT7A Mobo
768mb PC133 ram
40.1gb IBM hdd
GeForce2 Pro 64mb DDR
blah, blah, blah

I have begun the FSURP  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

I've found a lot of the old info I'd been given before & have a copy of the original Volition Starmap, so expect something tangible in the next few weeks.

Shrike m8 - if u could, when you've finished that .3ds nodemap - could I have a copy of it?  renders would be great though...thnx =)

baaaaaaah! no, there's a (huge, believe me) difference between 3ds and max format  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) (like there's a difefrence between max files saved in max1.2 and max files saved in 3.1, max1.2 won't read the 3.1 max files  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif) )

 FSurp  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)  i havnt heard that word in years  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)  I signed on to KillJoys FSURP project in July of 99, (wow two years ago)  back then the whole community could do nothing but make crappy user missions.  Coming back into FS is really neat seeing the different changes and advancements in modding.  Making ships stuff thats all cool.  People used to think i was the king of mods cause i could edit fs1 tables.  Anway because this post has to have a point, Good luck on ur FSURP, to a new team of freespace people leading the way til FS3 comes out...not

3ds is a scene too, dude... there's not distinction scene/mesh in 3dswhatever.

Um... no.  Importing a mesh loads a .3ds file, loading a scene loads a .max file.

Which do you consider the "original"?

A while back (2 years?), Killjoy ran an FSURP, it bounced from Ross128 to PFS (now VW) to the descent.telefragged address (getting old, what was that called?) to defunct. Then, someone picked it up again about a year ago, now this  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

I talk with Killjoy all the time, he may still have the REALLY old version on a CD, if anyone wants it.

No. I have 3ds3, so I know what I'm talking about damnit! The 3ds file is to 3ds3 what the max file is to 3dsmax. The import option in Max is a converter, dude, nothing else.
Just try to convert a scene in 3ds format. It won't delete anything like True(ly stupid)Space would do (apart the usupported stuff, like volumetric things and effects that 3ds3 could not do, of course).

WHOO HOO!! The FSURP is alive again!

ps. This is Killjoy.. 8-)

Shadowman give me a holler on AOLIM: JPickell98 or ICQ: 121733287. I compressed the 5 different layout folders I had on my hd and and it was almost 7.3 MB. So, I will probably just give you ftp access to the system. So give me a holler so I can set it up.

Actually, I want all versions of FSURP.  From the orginal one for FS1 to this coming one.  The ultimate compilation of data.

Shadow, check my site ("http://www.angelfire.com/games2/fsarchive/index.html") for Neo-FSURP.  You'll find some stuff there to help get you started.  I'll also send some other stuff I got but never posted in a few days.

Ahh, I know what the mix up is.  I'm using MAX 3, and you're using just 3ds3.

Nah. I used 3DS3 for 5 years, and now 3dsMax (8 months now, version 3.1 now)
