I think most of the mod is not going to feature cutscenes, mostly because there are only a few people here that are able to create full-scale render cutscenes.
AVIs also increase the download size a lot.
Well, I came up with this idea for the SoL mod.
We were thinking about comic strips instead of rendered cutscenes. (Max Payne, anyone?)
The most adequate format for animations or comic strips would be SWF. (Flash)
If a new build would feature SWF support for cutscenes, would you/your mod use it?
-
can't you just string together a bunch of bitmaps and combine them in some prog?
-
That's not very flexible...
SWF would allow buttons and music. Animations are really easy to create with Flash
This is no request. It's just important for me to know how many people would use it.

Well, I can do some flash work, so I would use it. :)
-
Yeah, this would be very useful. I'd use it.
The only problem I can see is that fullscreen SWFs can be quite a resource hog, you'd need a pretty powerful CPU to run anything with much detail smoothly (unless you could turn down the detail).

I can see it being useful for certain.

Dead on, I'd use it 100% surely. I think after my work on WCS is finished I'll start my own project based on WC1 and that would be perfect for the cutscenes, it would be exactly like WC1, where you discussions between characters were portrayed as sequence of pictured with text under it, accompanied by a set of music appropriate for the content of said cutscene. That would be so freaking awesome, just thinking of it makes me feel all warm and fluffy inside.:)
