Title: Bush on Kosovo vs Bush on Iraq
Post by: Kazan on August 17, 2005, 04:45:15 pm
"Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is."

 - [then]Governor George W. Bush (R-TX)

So why doesn't he enlighten us on the iraqi exit strategy :D

(PS: my brother served in Kosovo - they had the solid intelligence, the equipment, the clear objectives, and the clear exit conditions needed to win that operation and they did so)

Their intelligence wasn't solid enough to avoid bombing the Chinese embassy. :p

a misplaced bomb is the fault of the pilot or guidance system - not the intelligence service

"President Clinton is once again releasing American military might on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation will cost. And he has not informed our nation's armed forces about how long they will be

The pilot had the right coordinates, the guidence system performed flawlessly, but the intelligence service used an outdated map.

That building wasn't always the embassy, it used to be something else. Don't believe me, then look it up.

EDIT: But lets get back on topic.

I think it's funny how political parties have tendencies to flip-flop like this.

Kosh: yeah except the entire time the democrats objections on the war haven't been "we shouldn't go to war at all" it's "this is the wrong war at the wrong time"

the democrats were on board for afghanistan

Meh, flip-flopping (where's aldo's pic???) is pretty much a given for most politicians. Expediency uber alles...

yeah but "Flip-flopping" is overused - it's valid to change your mind when you learn new information

Fair point. But a politician working at the national/international level should probably make sure he/she has all the relevant information before making their views clear. I think we should be able to expect at least that level of competency from anyone in a position of power....

Flip-flop. (http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/electronic/ietron/jk2.gif)

on topic: What else did you expect ? But this is completely different... the U.S. can't withdraw from Iraq, because they first have to find those danged WMDs .... oh wait a minute.....

I ****ing hate that term 'flip flop'.

It's so typical of the screwed up US electoral system that a neologism like that emerges, where it's now better to be wrong and stay wrong than possibly look at the facts and change your mind.

Because we swa this US massive election where the issues were truly world impacting - war, foreign politics, religion in government.   And what did we get from these great political strategists, all this fevered debate?  'Flip flop'

Flip...****ing flop.

What a great way to see the worlds 'greatest' democracy in action.

Ah, kosovo - you mean the place where ethnic cleansing began AFTER we attacked?

Oh wait, we invaded to stop that from happening.

Hmm, something isn't right here eh?
