This build should fix the white squares issue in D3D, but I can only get the problem to happen once in a blue moon, everyone please test this build to make sure the problem is gone.

It's really a recent builds thread.

More people can test it this way.

well ive used it and i havent seen any of those annoying white boxes
i think you might have done the bug in.

one of those boxes popped up when i was trying to show off the engine to some friends, kinda lessened the Uber-effect, that and envmaps not working

Don't blame me. I didn't set the permissions :) (can't edit them either).

Only moderators can start threads in this forum, and Sticks was left out of the moderator list. :)

I think Sticks said it was a spec/diffuse color issue where the specular color wasn't set to 0 like it should have been.  That was the same problem which plagued OGL for a while until Phreak fixed it.

No white squares here anymore. Been testing this build for a while and I have not seen a single occurence of the bug so far. The performance of this build is smoother as well, or at least it seems so to me.

Are we going to see the fix hitting CVS soon?

I'll commit it today; it looks as if this has remedied the issue.

This thing really seems to work, I see white boxes no more.
Anything should be done in mantis about this bug issue? Cause I think the bug is fixed, isnt it ..

Earlier today, I tested a mission which has an explosion which never fails to create a white box.  This time, no box.  Looks like you've nipped this one in the but.  I am however, encountering the fighters-warpout-instead-of-fighterbay bug... but that's not realy a surprise.  It also appears that the subobject initial position thing, which allows turrets to be set horizontal rather than vertical, isn't working... which again, is no real surprise.

So, the problem basically was the anis/effs being assigned a completely white shinemap in D3D, sortof?
I might have a look into this, but I'll mostly stay with Goobers 0728-build for a while, as it didn't cause any major problems for me (as long as I didn't try to use my old mods, that is... :( ) .

Anyway, nice to know that the problem has been tracked down and solved. :)
