Ok, who's the genius who forgot to include the Vasudan ace in the mission?
-
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall this being a common question, way back when I was first here:
IIRC, in the original FS1 mission, it was only intended that the Vasudan Ace appear in Medium or harder difficulty levels, but somehow, it didn't work that way in FS1. The FS Conversion staff decided to preserve the mission the way the Volition designers originally intended.
I just played it yesterday on Medium, and he's definitely there. I believe the briefing also changes depending on the current difficulty level, either mentioning him(on Medium or harder), or not mentioning him at all(Easy or Very Easy).
EDIT: Sorry. It appears it's a little more complex than I thought. (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,26345.msg529161.html#msg529161)

Should have known to nose around about this. Sorry for taking your time.

You don't have to apologize... we're always glad for activity here. :)
Actually, I misread the mission file when I made that previous post, so it's not quite correct. The actual conditions are as follows:- 75% of the Vasudans must be destroyed
- Either (or both) of the following
- The player must be above 50% hull integrity
- The player must be playing on Hard
- In the first mission, the Orff must not fall below 70% hull integrity
Note the differences. This will be fixed in Port v3.0.

Will 3.0 have the correct hangar interface and loading screen at least at 640x480 res? If you saw my other topic, I tried to do that using the VPs from my FS cds, but the animations were wrong, even though the hot spots were right. I thought that the root.vp would help, but its table format was wrong and when I tried to build vp a new after correcting the medals table, it crashed the program. Probably related to my old system, though. I may try it again as soon as I find my FS discs again.

There were a number of changes between FS1 and FS2 with the result that not all the files from the first will work in the second. (This is the whole reason for the "port"... if everything worked, you could just drop in the old files and not need any ported ones.)
Some of the features were changed so much between FS1 and FS2 that source code changes are required for the old files to work again. This is why the FS1 music feature requires the SCP. The same thing is probably true of the interface. You're welcome to try, but it's likely that the table and/or the source code will need to be changed before the FS1 main halls work in FS2.
