Title: A thought provoking article - The Curse of 1D Politics
Post by: Flaser on August 27, 2005, 01:38:56 pm
The nazis and the communists seem all the same...yet are they?
Yet they're on the opposite end of the spectrum.
Why do liberals so often quarrel among themselves...or do they?
How come the 'left' and 'right' terms are used so often, yet when it's time to band together the alliance so bitter?

This means politicians are all corrupt and are just out for power...maybe.

But think again (//). There's more to it, that "meets the eye".
Jerry Pournelle seems to have made a measurement systems that finally puts thing into their corner and we can be eye-to-eye with the idiosynchracies polluting our election and governmental system.

I think the political compass (http://www.politicalcompass.org/) did it better.

Yeah that's a great site.

Heh, I think mine's changed since the last time I took it. I find some of the questions to be loaded though. That's what I hate about those types of evaluations.

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -5.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.44

Nice...

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: 1.13
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 1.85

Sounds about right. Am I the only person here who has gotten both positives (or any)?

So you're ideologically close to a theocrat?
;) ;)

Though I think the test has a few leading questions. It's like when someone asks you if you like kittens. What are you going to say, no? People answer as they think they should, instead of as they really believe. That's why so many people get a left-libertarian alignment, becuase that's where all the "good guys" are.

I can't help it if the Dalai Lama thinks I'm a good example to follow. Its not my fault.

Actually, I don't like kittens. I like cats. I also don't like babies, but I like children. Okay that's a lie. I hate children too. I like them once they're able to support themself, around 20 or so.
