'School rounds on parents who 'hover' over their childrens schooling'
Don't know about you guys, but this made me laugh.
-
my parents very much knew when to get the hell out of my way and leave me the alone thankfully
-
Heh, more amusing than that - Colgate is a toothpaste brand ;)
-
$40 ****ing grand? Bloody hell.
-
kids today are too ****ing pussy to branch out on there own. parents are no better, trying to be control freaks and such.
-
Yahoo error 999? :wtf: :doubt:
-
I can't blame parents for *****ing when they pay half their salary to send their kids to college. I believe the level of involvement the article cites, is the extreme and minimal.
I think this is making a mountain out of a molehill. I also see it as now the schools have an excuse when something really does need to be improved and they just don't want to do it. My school for instance, chooses to fund new housing over programs that need the money. Now colleges can use the "learn on your own, challenge yourself, problem solving" bull**** to explain anything.
-
EtherShock: i completely disagree- there are many parents out there that don't want to "cut the umbilical" and let their children handle problems on there own, and i see an increasing number of people that cannot handle problems on their own because they're used to having mommy and daddy take care of everything.
I just want to smack those people
-
Well yes, those kind people should be smacked. However I myself have not witnessed this type of behavior, have you? A simple solution is for the kid to tell his or her parents to butt the **** out, and if they can't do that, then that's really sad.

yes they canot do that, they think it's GREAT that their parents will solve everything for them.
College used to be a barrier to this mentality because the ammount of contact was less [no email, no cellphones] - college administrators know it's good to discourage this mentality: AND they have things to take care of which don't involve listening to Parent X *****ing that they don't have someone to give wakeup calls and make sure their child is doing their homework
-
Yeah, I've seen people whose parents do everything for them, but that was back in high school. I'm not talking about the school being the ****ing parent or living in a five star hotel. I'm not on the parents' side here. I'm just trying to see both sides of the coin. I think there's potential for abuse, because the people that run schools are stupid, along with the parents that write the checks. It doesn't matter how much they ***** anyway. I sure as hell wouldn't listen if I were them, but I would listen to the students, and I don't think schools do that concerning reasonable things, such as the funding of specific programs.

then your gripe really has nothing to do with this thread and is just off-topic
-
Enough please guys :)

Very well Kal, I'll drop the subject, because I don't want to be monkeyed. However I don't think it's off topic.
