Recently I took an avid interest in Heinlein's work (and lack of availibility in my country).
It still suprises me how he was blamed with every single existing political label.
(Quite ironic, when compared to the fact, how revolutionary and modern his books were at the time).
It's also disquiteing how fast people seem to forget that he personally made SCI-FI into form of art and serious intellectual experiments, that he laid the foundations of worldbuilding (in written fiction).
Never the less what sparked my interest (and bandwith usage) ferverish was the following homepage:

Never mind 99% of the page deals with the SST movie, some of you seem to love (smg. I outgrew quite fast, once the novelty wore off).
Verhoven's film is good, on its own - violent, propaganda satire of the semi facist nationalism.
However it's light years away from an accurate rendition of Heinlein's book.
The following film though is not:

Starhip Troopers - Uchu no Senshi ("Space Soldier/Warrior")
A 6 episode OVA anime made in 1988.
http://www.trooperpx.com/AFS/AFS01.html - was the link that brought my attention to it.
More (mostly production) info:

It's meant to be the best damn heavy metal action as it was meant to be.

The foundations of "worldbuilding" in written fiction date back to World War I for fantasy and the early thirties for scifi (earlier if you choose ot include mythological worldbuilding, which I don't).
I agree with you completely about Heinlein's SST and the big screen SST being different animals. In particular, the film's cynical portrayal of the State does not jibe well with Heinlein's portrayal in any way. Dropping the discussion of the death penalty in favor of more hot man-on-Bug action was a signifigant mistake in that regard.

While we're here, I'd like to point you to HotU's copy of the Starship Troopers game...
Actually, looking it over, I see some surprising resemblences between the game's Marauder and Command suits and the anime's interpretation of the power armor.
Now I'm going to go nuts trying to find this thing...

AFAIK it's "Being Fansubbed", that's all I could find in terms of distribution for now.
(source fansubber.net or smg. like that)

isn't there supposed to be a new SST fps released soon? or did it get canned?

I think the new Starship Troopers game is due out this year...

Overseas shipping for a university student is murder on the Hungarian pocket.
BTW what the guy does is plainly illegal and unethical.
I would rather grab the anime from some free fansubber than from an ******* who wants to make money from other people's work.
