The dark blue on the outter rings of the beam are too strong. Blur them a bit.

I was trying to make them clear, but it didn't want to work for me...

Blur those beams and reduce the opacity a bit so they blend with the background a tad (not much...take it down to 75% perhaps).

How do you reduce opacity in TS?

i use a very low opacity for my beams in truespace - of course mine consist of 4 planes textured with the beam texture a 0, 45, 90, 135 degrees - then the beam glow is the same - but it's squared and there's copies of it at various angles since is spherical and not cylndrical

*bump*

Thanks to Kazan, I now know how to do this right. So I fixed this image, but didn't add the explosions yet.

Setekh... I plan to destroy you a few more times when Psycho finishes my flagship.

The name is still pending, but it's all gun. (Which'll give you an idea of it's weakness. hehe)

Could use some more effects on the points of penetration. A bit like this ("http://www.eon3d.com/Tutorials.htm") shows you how for Lightwave (the process is similar for other programs, though).

But you'd have to make the effects before the beams if you do the beams in PhotoShop or similar  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)

The beams are good, but the glow on the Sobek is to large and looses a lot of the detail there, also the Deimos looks a bit weird (I can't place how - I think it's to do with the lighting?) and finally  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) the stars... they all come in pairs... I think that happens to me from time to time but it's there (just to point it out). But nice one!

Release all your QM ships and we'll be on level playing ground.

As for your beams - second one looks sweet, the reason it looks funny Thunder is because it has a metallic texture property in TS. Like I've said on another thread, all you need do is put more dramatic damage effects around the exit points of the beams and you'll be set.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

My flagship isn't a QM ship, Or not at this moment it isn't, but don't worrie, I'll send you a copy.   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

And I didn't do any after effects to it, I was too happy to touch it. I _never_ made realistic anything with TS, and was histerical with err.... ok, I was excited I finally did it right.   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

I wish TS had a hypervoxel plugin like LW does... then I'd put little peices being blown away...

3dsmax has a similar plugin.  Called PArray.  Makes for some neat explosions.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

When we finally open QuantuMechanics, it'll be available for Download. Until then, it's me and Psycho's little puppy, hehe
