Hey guys,
Is it possible to make custom music VP's? I saw someone say somewhere they had their own music in FS2, I forget who and where, but anyways I would like to know how to do that.
Oh yeah, and with FSO, in the control config menu, it has "Left Thrust, Right Thrust, Up Thrust, Down Thrust" or something like that, is it ship-strafing? I mapped it to my controller's d-pad, but it doesn't do anything... Sorry for the noob-ish questions, but I would appreciate the help!

Strafing is certainly present in FS2 (watch Maras as they fly and you'll notice that they move quite differently than most fighters) but it's not enabled on many ships. Try it on "into the Lions den" as the Terran Mara may still have that ability, or edit the tables so that your favorite fighter has a max velocity greater than 0 in the x and y directions.

Yes: http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/fsdoc/index.php?pagename=music.tbl
Valid music filetypes are uncompressed WAV, ADPCM WAV, and Ogg (Highly recommended).
If you need a utility to convert to/from any of those three, I recommed dbPowerAmp (Google for it).

Wow, I didn't know there was strafing... I'm gonna have to give that a shot.
