Title: Burning a huge ISO
Post by: MrBig101 on August 31, 2005, 12:10:34 pm
I am trying to burn an 782mb ISO with a 700mb.  I am using Burnatonce atm.  This was the error message I got when burning with overburn (I don't think I checked read RAW, which might have been my problem, but i only have 3 cds now and don't want to take a chance)

Why is this in this forum?

My idea would be for you to go out and buy a 750MB cd.

By an 800MB CD you cheapskate :p

Or a 750 and overburn that instead.

Or use Dameon Tools and distribute the content between two CDs. The first one is better though.

I might just burn the first one (which is under 700mb) then keep the other 2 ISOs on the HD and use them with daemon tools.  I'll try it again today, but I heard there's a way... lol

I heard that if you do it a certain way it will fit fine.

I'm going to try to burn CD2 one last time, and If it doesn't work, then I'll just have to use Daemon tools for CD 2 and 3...

hey btw, how old is you cd burner?  someone said to me that older cd rw drives have trouble burning ANYTHING over 700 MB's of data whatsoever.  your write speed was set at 8.  Is that the highest or did you set it there from a higher speed, if so what is the fastest speed of ur burner drive?

you could also put all of the ISOs on a single DVD if you have a DVD burner and if you don't they're cheap and quite useful. I also have an autorun exe that brings up a menu that can install FS, ST, FS2, FSO and all 3.6.5 media vps and all respective game patches. I can dig it up again if you or anyone is interested, just PM me.

I would have done that already, except this computer doesn't have a DVD burner, only my other one :(.  Believe me, if I had one I would do it.  I still haven't tried to burn CD2 yet.  Give me later today :D.

Well, all 3 CD's failed, lmao, so I just uninstalled a couple things and mounted them using Daemon Tools.  Oh btw...

FREESPACE 2 IS THE BEST THING EVER!!!!!!!!!!

Just had to get that out of my system.  :D

Something I've said a bazillion times, you don't need the installer. If you can grab the VPs and .mves (or if you're fine with using SCP exes, the AVIs) you can play FS2 like any other ol' installed version.

I'm not sure why I'm saying it now, it just seemed like a good idea and somewhat relevant.

Ummm the VP files are packaged in those fake .cab files that don't open with WinRAR. How the hell do you get them out without the installer?

Well, just finished the main campaign, and it was awesome, although a bit short.  Those shivans never learn...

Anyone know of any good FS2 campaigns that doesn't require the SCP?  I'm quite happy with retail right now and I'm too lazy to install the SCP :P.

The old Derelict was "stock" (or at least ran on vanilla FS2), maybe Homesick, though I don't remember if Blasie used SCP features there.  Warzone and Aeos Affair always seem to be recommended too, and while I'm at it I might as well plug Goober's Deus ex Machina too, though I suggest you look at the others first.  There are others, but those are the ones that readily come to mind.

If you just save an fs2_open EXE to the FS2 directory and run it it should work, with new SEXPs and stuff.

Some of BR's campaigns require Lightspeed's extra nebulae, those are here (http://fs2source.warpcore.org/new365/ls_neb.exe).

Edit: LS's nebulae require fs2_open to work, and you *might* have to run the Installer to set up the fs2_open videocard entries.
