Just finished American Gods by Neil Gaiman.
A very cool book, all in all. Well worth anyone's time. I tried to find Good Omens as well, but the bookstore didn't have it.
...I liked the parts about the gods.
I'm also two third of the way through A Short History of Progress, which isn't exactly what you would call an entertaining read, or an extremely informative one, but still. If that's your thing.

the HLP bb...

Ilium, by Dan Simmons. That man just has an amazing wealth of knowledge regarding classical mythology.
-
Black Hawk Down last week.
-
I'm reading a couple books a little on and off depending on where I am..
Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy.
Wheel of Time: Path of Daggers.
War of The Ancients: The Well of Eternity
-
I'm going to start a book called Elantris, by Brandon Sanderson. It caught my eye in a bookstore; it's a stand-alone fantasy novel that looks really well done.
-
I'm *trying* to get my hands on the WoT New Spring Comic books.
But it's pretty tough... :(
-
In random bursts and fits (ie, whenever I'm in the bookstore) Shadow of the Giant
-
Clear and Present Danger and Asimov's Nemesis at the same time.
-
Pirates in an adventure with scientists.
-
Just finished reading The Golden Queen, part 1 of 2 of Worlds of the Golden Queen by David Farland. An excellent read, with a good mix of fanatasy and sci-fi and a talking bear.
-
Dead tree: Transvergence by Charles Sheffield.
Ebook: March to the Sea by David Weber and John Ringo
Audiobook: Foundation by Isaac Asimov
I just started Foundation today. Yesterday it was Dune Messiah. Up next on the eBook list will be Chainfire by Terry Goodkind, while the next dead tree will be a Tad Williams book.
-
Century Rain by Alastair Reynolds.
-
If you have any good ebooks mikhael...well, share the wealth I always say. They're hard to find, I guess not too many people are interested in it, what with the staring at the screen for hours on end.
-
I'd be interested.
-
Oooooh. Alastair Reynolds. He's groovy. :)
As for ebooks, I have about 5gigs worth, though to be fair, in a lot of cases there's duplicates (.txt, .lit, .rtf and .html versions). I've been meaning to catalog it all properly but I haven't got around to it yet.
-
The Case for Peace by Alan Dershowitz
MAD Magazine
-
5 gigs?
:wtf: :wtf:
Jesus, I didn't even know that much e-book data existed on the entire Net.
-
my foxfire notes.
-
My revision notes for my resits on Monday.
Actually, that's what I'm supposed to be reading.
I'm reading various webcomics and forums. And the briefing for mission 9 of Hostile Waters.

Find a copy of Good Omens Rictor, I garuntee you won't regret it. I've read that book more than any other book I own.. probably at least five times in the last few years. If you have trouble getting hold of a copy, PM me your address and we can work something out as the bookstores local to me do have copies :)
And to answer your question, I'm about a third of the way through The Hogfather by Terry Pratchett. It's incredibly funny. Definitely recommended.
-
Just started Speaker for the Dead by Orson Scott Card. I'm hoping it will be as good as Ender's Game.
-
It's different. I liked it as much as Ender's Game but the style is pretty different.

I've got all the Discworld books as audiobooks. Since there are so many, I intersperse them through all my other audiobooks, so I don't get overloaded.
I generally listen to audiobooks whilst driving, or whilst alone in a server closet troubleshooting problems. I cannot do this with Discworld, though. Pratchett has an habit of moving the story along in a nice, calm, entertaining manner and then *WHAM!* solid left turn into something so absurd that you have to stop what you're doing and concentrate very hard on not laughing your ass off. The example that comes to mind immediately is the immortal passage about an apprentice thief (or was it an assassin) looking over a bridge into the Ankh and reflecting that if he were to vomit, the water would actually be marginally cleaner.

Timothy Zahn: Heir to the Empire
And I will finish the whole trilogy; Dark Force Rising and the Last Command.
-
Good book :)
That was how I got into SW novels in the first place. Although the Wraith Squadron sub-series became my favorites later on.
-
Yub yub, Commander! :D
The Rogue Squadron books weren't too shabby either.

Just finished "Pale Blue Dot" by Carl Sagan. Interesting to compare what's happening at the moment with what he predicted over a decade ago (it was published in 94, I assume the last book he wrote before he died).
At the moment I'm struggling through "The Rise of Fishes" which is kind of good, but, TBH, not really my cup of palaeontological tea. I like things with legs, what can I say :)
-
Los funerales de la Mama Grande by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Not especially psyched for AP Spanish Lit this year... not sure my Spanish is up to the task.
-
The background info for my campaign. (In prepartion for writing up more.)
-
Various RPG source material for inspiration for Act I of the Into the Night.

Thanks for the thought. I found it at another bookstore (same chain) and picked it up yesterday. About five pages in, and I think this one is definitely a keeper.
