Any suggestions on some good FREE ones?:)

Plus no adware or spyware.

Iv'e used firefox since .90 versions and I had no idea about that.

The FF one can not, as I recall, handle links or in fact easy server switching.

Get mIRC. You can get the "trial" version with all the normal functionality and just keep clicking "Buy Later" each time.

Since I already use Trillian for AIM/ICQ, I just use it for IRC as well.

i just use trilian, it has an adequit irc client if youre just chatting, but its not very scriptable, id go with mirc if you want something more advanced.

The FF one handles links just fine.

Google and Wikipedia are better friends than laziness. Also, here's a hint: For mIRC and HydraIRC, just add ".com"
