An aquaintance posted this on another forum, and I thought it was pretty funny. Notice Meyer's face, right 'fore they immediately cut away.
-
The look just screams: pwned.
-
LOL MWAAAHAHAHAHA
Now THATS quality reality TV.
-
So that's where the You're the Man now Dog (http://bushdoesntcare.ytmnd.com/) clip came from.
And he's right about the looting (http://yahooracists.ytmnd.com/) thing.
-
You know, I dont' think its about race at all. George Bush doesn't care about POOR people, black or white. And given his mother, what can you expect?
Originally heard on the radio today:
"Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality. And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this, this is working very well for them," Mrs. Bush told American Public Media's "Marketplace" program, before returning to her multi-million dollar Houston home.'
Did I mention she was chuckling?
-
"OMG I DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR THIS, WTF IS THIS BLACK PERSON NEXT TO ME DOING - I DON'T REALLY CARE ANYWAY, THIS IS FREE PUBLICITY"
That's what his look told me, though I may have exagerated a touch.
Props to Kanye though. Takes balls to say something as idiotic as that.
He'd be perfectly correct if he said "poor" though. Though I think we all know that the possibility for what he said being true is well over 90%
However, I doubt Bush dislikes rich black people.
-
Yep. I've said it before several times. It's not a race thing. It's a class thing.
-
bwahhahahaha!
The look on Myer's face was like "WTF!".
-
Everyone's a little bit racist.
-
OWNED.
kanye was mad so he prob didnt think bout what he said then and there, maybe afterwards... he prob thought FUGCK! I SHOUDLDA SAID POOR. then they woulda not have kicked me off the air....!

The day I start taking my politics from Kanye West is the day that what remains on my intellect slinks off to whimper in the corner, defeated. Obviously, the man's looking out for all "his people" on the streets, can't you see the sincerity in his eye? Though somehow I doubt "his people" are driving around in limousines, being paid millions to star in the thinly veiled marketing ploy that is his career. I also appreciate how a man who makes a living making retarded faces and/or voices in front of a camera is being given airtime to tell me how crucial it is to help out the victims in NO. Very classy.
Fortunately, lack of TV has shielded me from most of the professional drama queens, though I guess a few always slip by.
...Jesus, I sound like the bitter old man in the park.
-
so who is this guy? never heard of him.
-
He's that Hip-hop producer-turned-"artist" who made that big flop at one of the awards ceremonies a while back by basically *****ing out the organization for "disrespecting him by not giving him an award". Around here, he's known as the guy who charged 50 grand for a 30 minute show. He's a real tool, actually.
-
i like him, both his cds are prolly near the top of the rap albums out now and i think he did deserve an award, its the tools that usually get the awards
-
Actually, by about halfway through his first paragraph, Myers was wearing the expression of someone who's seen the train but knows there is no chance whatsoever of getting out of the way
-
The day you hear a "gangsta" rapper saying anything intelligent or worthwhile is the day hell freezes over. And ditto to Flipside. :p
-
Well its a good thing Kayne West isn't a 'gangsta' rapper
-
all rappers and hip-hopers or those cool/tough guy wannabies are tards if you ask me.....
-
Yeah. That's why they have a ****load of money.

I've never bothered to listen to more than a few seconds of (c)rap, so pardon me if I'm somehow classifying him wrong. The very fact that he calls what he does "music" is enough to set my opinion of him.

Exactly. Which means that anyone with tons of money is to be looked on with the utmost suspicion and contempt, just to be safe. Especially in the music industry. The bigger the flash, the worse the substance.
-
Saw it. Love it.
Rather stupid though... NBC had to do some serious spin control after the fact.
-
Damn! I'd love to see the few seconds after West got cut off:
Stagehand: "Okay guys, we're off the air"
Mike Meyers: "Dude!...What the ****...!?"

i used to wonder how racism, sexism, and all other idiotic forms of close mindedness made it to this 'modern,' progressive age. You've cleared it right up for me. I do appreciate that.

And thinking that rap is terrible can be equated with racism how, exactly? I've listened to, or rather been force-fed, plenty of rap. I just flat-out refuse to consider it music. Rappers don't sing and they don't play instruments; as far as I'm concerned, that equates to absolutely no musical talent. I can't see how anyone can see anything of value in rap; the only people I've ever known who like it are of less than stellar intelligence.

well you can kiss my ass for that comment. I like alot of it. That statment can be made for just about any type of music (cept maybe classical)
I agree I dont see how not liking rap can be equated to rascism, but saying rappers have no talent just flat out is asinine. I agree some do not, but there are a couple very talented rappers out there, please feel free to try rhyme to a beat and not sound like a complete moron, its really all about personal taste, cuz I can say i find tht all that hard rock stuff some of yall like involves no talent, **** anyone can beat things on things and scream thats not talent at all
-
IMO Rap is simply a pile of ****e, with the same musical quality as accordion hardhouse disco. I don't view it as particularly artistic or having musical merit in terms of lyrical quality or content.
IMO, of course. The same extends to heavy metal and pop, IMO.
-
Mongoose, you seem to be assuming that we'll take your opinions as fact - it's your opinion. I hate rap as well, but I know a ton of people who love rap, and I'd bet you my bottom dollar they're probably smarter than you.
Once again: I hate rap, but you don't see me blasting it and blasting everyone who listens to it. Maybe you should get out more and try a little diversity?
-
Yo YO I'm wit da BLING y'all.
Eminem iz da wiz kid yo!
Wack!
Ahem, I'm terrible at this.
If people like rap, what's wrong with that? Like any other form of contemporary music is any better or worse.
There's just taste, and tastes shouldn't be discussed.
Also, I ****ing hate rap.
-
Dawg, whassup wid you? Why you tryin ta play wid us like dat?
That's what pisses me off the most, is when people actualy CHAT on instant messenger like that.
Whatever, I don't care. The only thing I really object to are posers. If you like rap, if u talk like that, w/e, I don't care, but posers are the worst.
-
Are you sure the people who talk like that for "real" aren't the worst?
Hmm. The old tale of the bigger fool. The fool or the fool that follows it.

I'm not assuming anything; I'm just stating what I honestly feel about the subject. And I'm not a big fan of forced "diversity," either. :p I'm not calling any individual stupid, but I am saying that, in my experience, the people I've know who like rap are on the idiotic side and nothing more than huge posers. Though, as BlackDove says, I'd definitely consider people who mutilate the English language like that on a daily basis to be much worse. I don't care what anyone says; "ebonics" is not a language.
Night Hammer, yes, a lot of rappers can create rhymes set to a beat. However, that by no means makes them musicians. This is just my opinion, but to be considered a musical artist, one has to sing, compose, or play an instrument. Rappers do none of these things, and so that's why I don't consider rap to be music. Maybe it's not the actual rap I hate, but rather the whole "gangsta" culture that most of it seems to promote. I'm sorry, but I don't see "pimpin' my hoes" as a worthwhile endeavor, and I happen to think that driving in ridiculously modded cars and wearing tons of huge chains/rings/whatever is just ridiculous, no matter how "cool" it may be called.
-
Where do you live Mongoose? That might relate to your "poser" factor.

It's not a language, but it is a dialect.

I hail from southeast Pennsylvania. Don't know if that makes any difference, though.
Ford, I'm not saying this in any racist sense at all, but I consider ebonics to be a perversion of English rather than a dialect. It just strikes me as the type of language that people use when they don't care about their level of intelligence. Since I'm a bit of a grammar nazi, it annoys me all the more. :p

dont recall ever doing that. what i was doing is saying that taking a dislike for rap and turning it into an assumption about the intelligence of the person/people making it is ignorance/closemindedness and it stinks of racism. especially since this is the anonymous internet and people with diarrhea of the mouth say whatever thought pops into their little mind because they know it can never come back to them.
I'll have you know, I don't think the form of rap we all get force fed is NOT music in the strictest sense, as in played by a band, but it is musical. I'll even go so far as to say that the commercial stuff being produced today is garbage. I also think the same thing about most rock made today. BUT. BUT. BUT it has no bearing whatever on a musician's intelligence. And the same time, I'm smart enough to realize that the commercial stuff on the radio and tv isn't the good stuff.
One the hallmarks of intelligence is the lack of a need to generalize.
And mongoose, there was/is a reason we (and by we I mean black people, just so you're not confused) speak that way. And we don't care what you think about it.
