Ouch I made a new profile, and it works for the 1st mission. :blah:
-
Try either getting a more recent build from the recent builds SCP forum or try disabling/removing mv_music.vp.
That looks like a mv_music.vp crash to me so the cure is to turn it off or get a recent build where that bug was fixed.
-
Hmm I found a way to fix this with out doing either of those. Kinda odd, the way I fixed it was creating a new profile then loading up the first mission, then quiting, switching profiles and the other profile/save now worked... :wtf:
But thanks anyway.
-
I would go ahead and get a newer build anyway. My experience with the last round of the mv_music bug (that particular build, in fact) showed that a mission might run fine once, but then crash the second time and take the entire ogg system with it. There are some minor issues with the newest builds, but nothing worse than what you're going to run in to with the one you've got.

Im having a similar problem...When im playing fs and a ship uses its beam turret it just compltely frezes and it wont unfreeze... I dont even have to see it on my screen...Idk whats going on. I have a Pretty good computer....Anyone know whats going on?
-
Defintetly not similar, mine was fixed easy and your sounds like its gonna take some reinstalling to fix, but then again I now jacksh*t about FS
-
Actually. MIne does crash (ocasionally) on load...So ina way its similar :P. Idk if reinstalling it will do the trick though...O well.. Maby someone who knows more could help me :)

I've seen this problem mentioned by someone else today elsewhere on the board but I can't remember where.
-
Hmm.Well if anyone knows what board it was on please tell me :)
-
Nvm...I guess its my video card...Is there anyway to change fs2 open's setting to work with a low end v-card?

perihelion mentioned the same thing happening to him on the last page of this (http://207.38.10.121/~freespace/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24816&pagenumber=3) thread.
This could be a new FS2_Open bug possibly. Do you get the error in both OpenGL and Direct3D modes?
-
yea, But I heard it was my v-card "s3 Unicrome 3D" I guess its not good enough to play fs2_open... Maby theres a way to lower the gfx quality? You sure that's the thread?

I was refering to this post

And its only the heavy and super-heavy class beams that cause the CTD - light/AAA and medium beams work properly. Only solution I found was to deactivate the new textures by resetting the two offending FSOpen flags (enable 32bit textures/enable jpg/tga textures) before any mission with a capship battle - this is by no means an ugly game even with the old textures. Of course it could be an all new problem I've not seen before...
Sounds pretty similar to yours. I suspect the problem is your graphics card. On board cards are not really powerful enough to run the newer versions of FS2_Open which means that you're stuck unless the SCP are willing to go back and fix non HTL mode (Troubleshoot>>Software mode if you want to give it a try but I doubt it will work).
You could try turning all the graphical additions off and hoping for the best but with that card you are rather limited.

he is using 2005722?! BLASPHEMY! get his 2005728 build. I say it's the best one of them all. :p
-
:wtf:
Or he could get 3.6.7.
-
i haven't tried the 3.6.7 build yet. :p
