Anyone know where I can find a good video editing software? I've already tried Virtualdub and its not upto the requirements.
Simply put, I need a program for my current project (shhh....cant tell much about it atm, but it is FS2 related) that is capable of splitting up existing files into clips of various sizes, fading in and out of scenes, arranging of scenes and the ability to place text without use of an external program. I've tried to....*cough* acquire *cough* adobe premier 1.5, but all I got is a .bin file, a .cue file and a tda.nfo file that I no idea how to extract, so maybe some help there would be appreciated.
Any help would be appreciated :D
Thanks,
Singh

I can help with the bin cue etc thing. Burn it to a disc, choosing the .cue as the image. The bin file is the actual disc image, and the cue is a text file with like 4 lines that tell the machine what to do. Or something. Either way, that's how to do it. :) The nfo is an "info" file, ie a text file. Open it with notepad.

I have a project that has similar needs for video editing software (not FS2 related, unfortunately). Sadly, I run Win98SE and therefore can't run Premiere. What else is there that actually works?

Use Daemon tools. (http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/daemon_tools.cfm)
Mount the .cue (or the .bin).
Freak on.

Yeah, burn or mount the iso and everything should be just dandy.

Annorax: I got a huge stack of video-related progs. Haven't actually used 'em yet, but going from the names, you could look at some of these:
Ulead Video Studio
Sony Vegas Movie Studio
Pinnacle Liquid Pro
Pinnacle Studio Plus
Avid Xpress Pro
Google 'em and see what they are - one or two might be useful...

Ok, I went through Adobe Premier and realized something: it's totally uesfull for anything other than what I need to get done! One of the primary things is to have some text fade in onto a scene - and Premier has no such option - only one for it to either roll in or crawl in from the side! Damnit!
Anyways, perhaps someone can help me with this: i figured another way would be to do it manually with each frame via photoshop. I've planned out hte frames properly with the text appearing and fading it at a certain % of opacity per frame, but the problem now is: how the hell do I repeat tihs over and over again for each individual frame while keeping the text in the same position and only changing the opacity? Animating a simple picture is not an option here, since each frame is different from the last, so it has to be done manually. Is it possible to duplicate hte text, with the virtually identical location (say as a layer?) into another file or something?

Premier can do everything, you're just not looking at the effects-opacity thing. You can set keyframes to control transparency, much like any respectable renderer.

do you see the triangle arrow pointing right that is next to the name of each track? click on it, and it will point down, and bar with a red line will appeat beneath the selected file on the track. this controls opacity. drag the right most end of it down to he bottom of the bar. now press enter, and that file will fade over the duration of it's existence.

Erm, yes, anyway - while we're on this, has anyone else ever had Premiere hang itself like the proverbial post-war Nazi while importing a video file?
