Title: Warp bug
Post by: Hudson on September 11, 2005, 07:58:24 pm
Sorry but I didnt quite search throughly so flame away if this has been asked...

My Subspace warp is bugged after installing FSO.  As soon as a ship hits its subspacewarp the ship disapears, makes for some ugly cap ship disaperences =/  I really would like to fix this. Can anyone help?

What video card are you using? Are your graphics drivers up-to-date?

Did you download the mv_*.vp media packs?  If so, you may need to activate "3D Warp POF" in the settings on the launcher.  If not, you may need to deactivate that setting.

I download as many vp files as i could find maybe you could give me a name of which one I need for the warp. I enabled what you said, still nothing =/ anymore Ideas? it is quite ugly to see ships instantly disapear

I have
Mv_core
mv_adveffects
mv_effects
mv_music
mv_models
mv_textures

Graphics card and driver version really is the paramount question here.   Of course, I assume you mean that as soon as the ship hits the event horizon (clipping plane) the whole thing dissapears, not just the part that's in the the warp at some hard line.  I assume you know that the clip is supposed to happen and that ships really are just vanishing instantly, but I want to clarify that before we chase down random causes.

Oh, and your complete command line would be most helpful as well :)

C:\Games\FreeSpace2\fs2_open_G-20050722.exe -mod Freespace -spec -glow -pcx32 -jpgtga -d3dmipmap -nomotiondebris -2d_poof -rlm -ship_choice_3d -3dwarp -tbpwarpeffects -snd_preload -env

As for my graphics card I have a geforce 6600gt, and dx9.0c.

And im kinda confused as to what you said about clipping..lol as its 3am in the morning here :P

But basically as soon as a ship (anyship) hits its Warp drive they disapear and all thats left is the warp effect until the ships has left. You dont get the nice effect of the ship flying into the subspace portal.

and now I just realized I dont see 3D Warp POF in my launcher, I have v5.3

I do have "Enable 3D Warp" and "Enable TBP Warp Effects"

This is what happens the moment the demon engages its subspace drive

It might have to do with the -tbpwarpeffects. That's only supposed to be used if you're playing The Babylon Project. Disable that and see what happens.
