I recently found this option in the Labâ„¢. Why don't we add a command line parameter to use this in the Tech Room? It doesn't seem to have much effect on framerate.
-
It might be a nice touch, but it's a little silly to have as a command line option. We have too many already, IMHO.
I'd also rather see it be used as a special effect in campaigns, eg as a ghost ship or something. Doing that would require very little coding effort.
-
It's only graphical, with no effect on gameplay. The command line's the best place to put it.
-
Right, but it seems like such an insignificant tweak. If we're going to start/continue adding things like this, they should go in some kind of config file, so that newbies aren't overwhelmed by the sheer number of options in the Launcher to choose from.
-
Isn't that what RT's checkboxes are for in the Launcher? I wish that was editable, so we can add new tickboxes for command line params.
Maybe we can include recommended command line parameters in the mod.ini config file. I know that the Star Wars mod would be virtually unplayable without the FOV alterations, for instance, while some of the gameplay elements would be necessary for other campaigns. RT, where are you?
-
I hate the checkboxes because you have to scroll for them and they're all in those stupid tabs. I agree, the ability to have a config and/or ini file instead of registry values or whatever ur using for the launcher atm would be way nicer, plus i wouldnt lose all my flag settings every time the launcher gets upgraded.

Can we split this, and move the launcher discussion to the internal, or something? :(

Yeah we kinda hijacked you. :D
Back on topic though, this should not be a cmdline option. As far as just using it in the tech room goes we could just make it a hotkey like we have for CTRL-SHIFT-S. Something like CTRL-SHIFT-G would turn on ghosting in the techroom. How about that?

Actually he kind of hijacked himself :)
Personally I think this is something that should go in the table files so that you can choose whether you want to make a new interface with something that looks like a 3D holographic display on it :)
No idea where though.
