Title: Green pulse
Post by: dragon1 on September 12, 2005, 12:21:28 pm
THANK YOU!!!!

It has been years since my copy of FS2 has been stolen. I have tried several times to get a new one to no avail.

Just two quick questions;

1) Is there any way (mod) to increase the speed of the big green bolts that the GTD Orion class fires? Prior to the "beam cannons", these bolts were the ship's primary armament, but my fighter can actually outrun them. Any increase in rate of fire would help to.

2) I am using the FS2_Open, the standard FS2.exe causes a number of errors that will not allow it to run. The FS2_Open runs in a window that would appear to be 1024 x 768. Is there any way to run FS2_Open in full screen mode?

Thanks again guys

1. You want to alter the weapons.tbl to do that. this (http://www.3dactionplanet.com/hlp/hosted/fsurp/help/ge/vptut.html) should help.

2a. The problem is most likely caused by you running FS2 retail with the FS2_Open media VP files present. Simply move the media VPs to a subfolder called media_VPs when you want to run retail and it should work. Move them back or simply run the media_VPs folder as your choosen mod when you want to play FS2_open.

2b. Open the launcher>>Features>List Type>>Dev Tool>>Untick the  run in window box.

Thanks karajorma

This is the best game modding community on the web!

One thing, in the "Features" tab, the box for List Type is not accesible. I am sorry to bug you guys about this, but I freely admit to being fairly ignorant in modding.

You what?

It should be the dropdown below the Custom Flags textbox on the launcher. It should say Graphics by default.

Everything in the Features tab is blank.

There are buttons (like MOD select) and dropdown bars (like list type and easy setup), but all are blank and I cannot select them.

The Custom Flags box is empty!

The custom flags box is meant to be empty until you actually add some custom flags like -allslev or something that isn't actually available as a checkbox list entry.

As for the rest. Try deleting the launcher.ini file and upgrading to Launcher 5.3 if you haven't already. There should be a sticky leading to it in the SCP forum.

Dragon, if you want more realistic Orion weaponry you might want to try my WeaponsPack at Hades Combine..

Or get Sandwich's CapShipTurretUpgrade from the Sandvich Bar.

Make sure that you've selected an fs2_open EXE by clicking "Browse" at the top.

Older versions of fs2_open and the original Freespace 2 executables won't work with the new fs2_open launcher.

Thanks WMCoolmon!

Would anyone have a utility for editing the table values for Freespace 1? I just reinstalled my copy!

Yeah they will. It's just not worth the hassle of changing your command line options and video mode though :D

http://www.descent-network.com/cgi-bin/descman.cgi?module=vpview

you can use it to extract .TBL files then edit them in a text editor like MS Word.

Note that you'll need to use version 1.3, as the FS1 table files are compressed in the VPs. Version 2 doesn't support decryption for some reason.
