It's a blackout.  Whoopdy-doo.  You are easily manipulated by sensationalist media.  Don't bother me, until you've got pictures of the exploded van, embedded in the collapsed power station.

Let me get my photoshop out....

...yeah they say they ruled out terrorism.  My guess - everyone turned their airconditioners on higher and the grid blew.  Blackout 2005...just like Blackout 2003.

Won't surprise me if the blackout turns out to be something beyond an innocent blackout, however.

A power outage is a minor inconvenience. A terrorist group like Al Queda would only target a power generation facility if they could make it go BOOOOOOOM! and kill lots of locals.

Sleep easy young ones.

Edit: If you're in LA, with your girlfriend, I swear your chance is right now. Keep the lady warm! :drevil:

She can keep warm just fine by herself in LA... it's freakin' hot there.

Of course, that just means that now is your chance to keep her more than warm. ;7

It's a well known fact that the birth rate spikes 9 months after a power outage ;)

*grumbles* Your power goes out and you think it's a terrorist attack.

My entire ISLAND was out for half of the day! Then it came on for 30 minutes, then out for 5, then on for 5, then on for 5, then out for 5, now it's on and I don't even know how long it'll last!

you should see all the news channels. they've been going on for FOUR HOURS over a stupid blackout.

also, the cause of te blackout was tha some poor sap cut the wrong wire and the entire system went down to keep from going kablooey.

according to the DWP.

Don't worry guys, in a few weeks three scientists will be dragged into court for accidently severing old wiring whilst digging in the middle of a street.

Is LA full of people being horrible to one another? :D

Like past tapes, it appears to include the same graphics and production techniques recognized by U.S. officials as part of al Qaeda's standard propaganda production. In this tape, the speaker levels threats against the United States and Great Britain.

Yep, you've just gotta watch out for the American or British City of MELBOURNE[/Sarcasm]!!! For cryin' out loud! Does Australia actually have to be ****ing attacked before it gets a mention in the news!? ****ing American media *stomps off angrily*

Heheh I love that movie, there's so many great lines in it. One that I think applies to HLP too - 'We got the tools, we got the talent'.

I find it very very hard to blieve that a single wire thin enough to be cuttable by a human, apparently with power running still through it, could possibly lead to this level of blackout. Even if it was controller system or the like, there would be backups etc for emergencies?

Not always. Sometimes major blackouts result from cascades, namely, systems taking out the ones nearby, causing the blackout to spread from a fairly small source.
