Ack!  ST ships!  We've been infected!   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Howzabout a couple other views, I want to see what it looks like from a 3/4 top or so.

I didn't know your name was Paul. Hi Paul!  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Nice render. I particularly like the detail on those snow-covered grassy mountains below. And the ship really looks like it fits. Nice job.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Very impressive indeed! I love the detailwork on the terrain and the model. The deck visible through the windows at the back is an excellent touch. My only real complaint is that the nacelles don't seem to cast any sort of light- a slight blue glow reflecting off some of the back part of the hull would look sweet.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

mmmm...star trek spaec yacht...mmm...what kind of SUV do you use to pull those around? :P

I like it  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) The hull design is great...
my only suggestions would be..well, I like the smooth round look of nacels :/
And some blue light  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
But a nice composition  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

I'd add a glow...but I can't with Rhino, and I don't want to mess with PSP.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

I like it

the shape is damn good

stick the hilight (specular) strength up a little on the hull texture

IF you dont want to muck around in PSP, try getting someone with a compositing pack to whack it through a luminance blur filter

What next?
a rotoscoped animation  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

You think I can even use a specular map:  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/lol.gif)

Rhino's a modeller, not a renderer. Dunno 'bout the new beta, but the version I have can do nothing but very basic textures, and I haven't even found out how to do that...

The 2.0 Beta has support for the Flamingo Accurender plugin. Flamingo features some percedural procedurals (the warp coils, buzzards, and impulse engines), better texture placement, Raytracing and Radiosity rendering, and much more than standard Rhino.

Hey guys

I just found that www.softimage.com ("http://www.softimage.com")  are supplying demo CDs of XSI if you want to try that.

You can also get demo CDs of maya3.0 (soon to be 4.0) from www.aliaswavefront.com ("http://www.aliaswavefront.com")

i think both of these work for 30 days, but it will give you a crack at some serious hi-end software.

Discreet already offer a demo CD of 3dsmax4, dunno about lightwave (i'm SURE someone will correct me on that...)

ALl you have to do is go to the website and put the appropriate details in.

You might get a phone call a month later by some PR person following up your eval period, so i suppose you could just say you're a student or something.

Its not brilliant, but at least its a  free, legal way of getting a crack with some very slick and intuitive tools.

I just noticed something about Star Trek ships.

They seem to like to have glowing red or blue panels on their ships.
