For a campaign I'm starting to work on (and hopefully will continue to work on) I needed a bit of a modified node map to make things work right. It was too difficult to take an existing node map to make these changes, so I tried making my own. I think it turned out fairly well. Still needs some adjustments to make it look completely presentable. Also, I may redo a few of the node paths, depending on what I'd like and need.

Keep in mind, the node paths are SUPPOSED to be slightly different. This is an alternate universe of sorts. Here's the abridged version of the story..
The Subspace War between Terrans and Vasudans awoke the Shivans, a weapon of an ancient civilization. When the two races formed an alliance to fight against the Shivans, they stopped their invasion. The Shivans said that if either race was found using Subspace based weapons again for their wars, they'd annihilate both races once and for all. 30 years have passed since then, and tensions arise between the Terran Coalition and the Vasudan Empire. Many speak of a war on the horizon, but the Terran Coalition also has to worry about the seperatist Cygnis Alliance, which threatens to cause even more strife between the Vasudan and Terran races.
So, what do you think of the map itself? I know it lacks a background, but I think the stars came out well. Used a lens flare in Photoshop to make them.

Looks nice, but I'd be inclined to move Deneb & Sirius around to try to avoid the criss-cross of node paths.

No need to move Deneb at all. Simply move Sirius to it's upper left and you can still preserve all the connections without any of the crissycrossy stuff.
Apart from that it looks pretty cool :)

I'm not sure whether this is an error, or an intended change, but there's supposed to be a node connecting Antares and Vasuda Prime. Also, there's been no indication previously of nodes connecting Capella to Antares, or Gamma Draconis to Epsilon Pegasi.

It's an intended change. The cutting of the Antares-Vasuda node is kind of a balancing thing. The way the factions lay on the map, it left Vasuda very close to the border, and I didn't like that. And since I couldn't figure out how to readjust it the way I wanted it, I decided to just cut the blasted node. XD I also added a couple for other storyline related stuff, like a way to Vega through Shivan space. Like I said, this isn't intended to follow the normal FS2 story. So a bunch of things are being shifted around for story reasons.

The Cygnis Alliance colour doesn't match the key text very well too

Only Antares and Ribos are neutral on that map.

Give it a background. Even if it's just a grid with a GTVA (or worrever) logo in the corner. Actually...
