Looks like it might hit New Oreleans again.  That's all we need, another storm to take out the hard work we've been putting into clean-up and restoration.  :wtf:

I sure hope not.

I, for one, am tired of getting soaked with the remnants of these damn things. They come up north and just depress us with their grayness and rain.

I like grayness, actually. Although rain is always annoying.

Rita is now entering the gulf as a strengthening Cat.2 hurricane, it is passing just south of the keys and it is expected to make landfall in Texas as a Major Hurricane.

Rita is now a very dangerous Cat.4 storm with winds greater than 135mph, it is expected to strengthen possible to a Catagory 5 hurricane in the next day or so. Then head toward the Central, North Texas coast early Saturday.

He's married to a Texan girl.  They met on the, er, internet and got married in Vegas.

For some reason, a Texan nutritionalist couldn't get a job in Airdrie, so now they both work at a charity hospital, I think near Houston.

By the way, the images update constantly, so it's best to keep this one bumped and watch the carnage.

But, that image is messed up, so here is a better one.

As I posted in the other thread, Rita is now a Catagory 5 hurricane with winds of 165mph, central pressure is now down to 906mbs.

Nah, that weak TS Philippe, and it will be drifting off and not bother anyone.

Post by: Mongoose on September 21, 2005, 04:13:30 pm
The other one you're seeing back there is TS Philippe, which is weakening and heading due north.  Rita's just a monster, though.  To all of you Texans, best of luck, and get the hell out of Dodge well before it hits.  There's a chance that it could weaken before landfall, so let's hope for that, and that NO doesn't catch too much of it.

Rita is now 5th strongest hurricane on record with a central pressure of 904mbs, 2 to reach Kat.

So... if I live 30 miles north of Dallas, do you think I'll be affected significantly? (Meaning floods and evacuation and ****?)

Hello? I really am worried about this...

You should consult local officials rather than asking on an internet forum.  If you have somewhere to go, go.  These things aren't worth the risk of riding them out.

30 miles north of Dallas, all you will have to do is watch out for flooding, some TS force winds(39-73)mph and the very slight possiblity of an hurricane force gust, and that would knock power out, other than that you fine, just watch the water. Thats what kills most people in hurricanes, flash floods, so don't drive thru any water on the roads.
