Delta Serpentis. Now don't say that we never provide.
-
Wow, that's actually a really good background. Hats off to the maker. How's all at Blackwater? Last time i heard, you were betaring or somthing.
-
Ok, wow. Where did you get that starfield?
-
Good call on showing that one.
If they behave, maybe show them Aquilae.
-
Nah, when we're almost done with Ep3 and we start on the second pass I'll release a set of "the people of BWO" and "the systems of BWO" type stuff.
Admins, could this be highlighted?
-
Mmk.
You better merge it for the second pass anyway, so take real-ingame shots.
Heh, tried highlighting it myself, the system to do it for is so retardedly complex it's not even funny.
-
Looks like Jupiter to me, but it's a quality screenshot nonetheless.
-
i never said u dont provide, very nice by the way :D

I'll openly admit to using photos of Jupiter and Saturn as a basis of my painted planets. Mainly because the photos of Neptune aren't so great, and we don't have any examples outside Sol.
-
I am very dissapointed in you.
I was expecting you to go outside of our Solar System, observe the other stars, and come back with exact replicas made into your art.
Suffice to say I can never look at you again. You shame me.

Well, as long as it looks pretty, it's acceptable.
BTW, is this the only planet in Delta Serpentis? I thought there was supposed to be a Terran colony in the system. Is it something like SW's Cloud City, a city in the sky of a gas giant?

I'm not sure if we established exactly all of the planets in a given system but when we set out to do some of the work with BWO in terms of MODs I wanted to achieve some goals.
One goal was to make every system unique. To ensure that the uniqueness also had character. Because we flit around between system to system...you should know damn well where you are, even if you don't know the name. The places, planets, objects, that sort of thing will be familiar.
We've had that going for a while...but with the new abilities SCP offers, Ace has taken a nod from that sort of idea and gone to the next stage with his excellent artistic skills.
You'll see more in the future :D

Uhhh...well currently?
At the moment Ace and BD are calling th shots. Kellan and I wrote the whole story and I ran the team for 4 or 5 years...I've stepped back. I'm advisor and I like to comment but things have moved on for me so its now in Ace and BD's very capable hands. I'm pleased to see them on the task and they are doing a fantastic job. This is their project as much as mine but I think they have an appreciation for what we wrote initially and what needs to be done to make it better.
And its better now than it was before.
-
I'm in charge.
:nervous:
*charges*

Pretty much it still is:
IceFire- Project Lead
Though Icey has taken on more of an advisory role, his word is still final.
Ace- Main Designer
Though we had a large mission team, most of the missions I either overhauled before or after the beta. Most of BWO's plot has, in the end, been fleshed out by me. Plenty of characterization, plot twists, etc.
BlackDove- QA Lead
His word is more or less final when it comes to the missions, artwork, etc. Though he primarily focuses on the beta testing he has also kept in touch with the various folks doing the HTL models, etc.

Yes. Yes he did...well he told me he couldn't do as much and then he slowly disappeared. In theory he still has access to the forum...but I haven't seen him in ages.
Alas, thats ok. We even had Agatheron and Dark in on this originally...but many of you may not even recognize those names.
-
Maybe he just got a life off the internatz.

I remember them, from VWBB I think. Sometimes I worry that so many people have grown off from this community but I am still hanging around here. Am I not growing anywhere? Then I think people like IceFire and feel a lot better. :D

:D
I've been into FreeSpace since December 1997. Thats a long time :D
But I'm not involved like I used to be. I've moved off, building a bit of a life for myself right now...
Some things are more important. Kellan felt that way and needed to move along. No hard feelings there...he told me he was going and didn't have time anymore and I'll always respect someone for doing that.

dark... i miss dark
i'm not sure who would win dark vs setekh
I wish they were both back making art!
STEAK! DRAW SOMETHING :D
-
I think when it comes to modelling and texturing, Dark wins hands down.
When it comes to renders, Setekh.
